thought they had a tough time of it in the mid-'90s.. i really have to hand it to the Amigans for tenacity and perseverance!
Always interesting to read about another platform. I hope that in the next few years we'll see a resurgence of alternate platforms. Already we're seeing Linux and OS X emerging stronger than ever before. Perhaps others will grow in significance too.
It's boring when there is nothing but Windows on the landscape.
Let's convene a conference about birds being killed by paned glass.
Maybe the UN can get hold of the issue and negotiate a deal with glassmakers that would see them manage a fund dedicated to supporting the abandoned chicks of deceased winged parents cut-down by clear glass panes.
Then they could siphon a little off for themselves and their immediate relatives and remain beyond the reach of the law, even as they grandstand as the judges of right and wrong in the world.
Birds are also being killed by the avian flu. Those concerned should be developing and distributing an innoculation for birds everywhere, but they're not, are they?
Perhaps those claiming to be avian rights supporters should be placed on trial by the UN after the UN has first secured the aforementioned sweet deal over the glass panes, at which point it might accuse the world's chief bird rights organization of fraud, misrepresentation, malfeasance and the mismanagement of the public trust.
This organization might become the subject of various resolutions, after which it might be accused of developing weapons of mass destruction, preparing the way for sanctions, an economic embargo and eventual invasion.
If you're going to go around claiming to care for birds, you'd g*ddam*ed well better be caring for birds, and not just pretending to while you pursue your hidden, nefarious anti-windmill agenda.
The 8 minute teaser was a lie. The gameplay is exactly the same as the first. The game is too short. If you want good sci-fi, check out the new Metroid. Many original elements, unlike Halo which appears to be a direct rip-off of "Ringworld" with the sequel featuring many "Star Wars" elements thrown in for good measure.
Not enough movies with space marines. With that said, the storyline for Halo, tho good for a game, isnt' very interesting as a movie I don't think. Don't get me started on Halo 2 with the (spoiler) way that one ended. "I'm going to finish the fight". Not with me controlling you you little fuck.
Studio Ghibli should make ICO. Roger Avary is writing Silent Hill, and thank God he prefers SH2 and constantly listens to the soundtrack. Maybe the director can magically pull it off and it could come close to the game. Halo 2 had a much, much better story than Halo 1 (even if the character development was still of the typical standard for First Person Shooters), some actual acting (Michael Wincott f***ing ruled) and some nice design choices. However, it still played exactly like the first Halo. And by that I mean it had two good levels and a good while of endless Doom-quality corridor padding. Meh. And as for HL2, I just finished it, and whilst it's not the best game ever made and I'm somewhat disappointed in the story being neglected (Half-Life's unique focus means that the storytelling is somewhat different than what we would normally expect in a game or movie; great but slightly sparse), it is probably the best straight-action first person game ever made.
As an end user, I'm mainly concerned about the legal exposure and risk that I face. Statistics on Open Source vs. proprietary patent claims, the validity of any such claims, the probability of future claims, etc., etc. is all largely irrelevant. I just want some assurance that my name isn't likely to appear alone beside the word "defendant" on any court documents.
If nobody wants to call you on your land line anymore (because those calls have become the equivalent of long distance), maybe it is time to drop that landline and go Vonage, or cable, or even Skype, or just go completely mobile (though I guess it will have to be Sprint, Nextel, or T-Mobile). The thing about P-Cube is it is only a good idea if everyone is doing it. If it is only on DSL, that is a good arguement to choose cable.
Just like MVNO has begun to catch fire in the wireless telco world, I think there is a place for Vonage-like service in the wired world. Companies should learn from the IBM of the 80s: if you spend all your time and money trying to hold on to the past, the future is going to get you. The Bells seem to hold all the cards right now, but they are playing a losing game.
safety from a boating accident. It was like a miracle. I was in the ocean and it came along, they are quite large and i crawled on its back and it took me to shallow water. I thanked it by dragging it onto shore, and driving a stake through it, securing it to a slow death on the beach. Stupid ass animal.
Visualize an office full of MicroBTX Desktop computers. Visualize the women in the office cupping their hands around the heat exhaust... visualize the overclocking tips flowing around the female staff as they strive to increase heat output... visualize the men pouring sweat, desparately trying to duct-tape the front vent to block the hot Intel Air.
I'm sorry, but any spec that seeks to exhaust hot air out the FRONT of any case, whether it be a desktop, tower or SFF, is just plain STUPID.
Intel changes sockets, Mobo and other specs periodically to force people to update to their latest crap. Don't expect a rush to BTX. It's another Intel spec unlikely to ever gain foothold...
For those who don't already know you can do wonders for ATX case cooling with "managed airflow". By actually directing incoming cool air to the heat sources and isolating the CPU fan from warm air in the case, no one really needs a BTX case and your PC will run much cooler with managed airflow.
While Intel definitely needs a tornado inside a box to cool their defective 90 nm CPUs, the BTX standard is just another Intel marketing scam for all practical purposes.
Hard to believe a statement like that could be published - lets see now.
Asterisk is dependant upon Linux
Massive Asterisk growth = massive LINUX growth
Less any dedicated standalone jobbies
So an explosive growth in ASTERISK would = an explosive growth in LINUX PLUS you would have Telecoms developers their eyes to the world of LINUX - and become new users.
Really a classic case of the "Cart before the horse"!!!
HYPE etc - someone needs funding for something. sounds very MLM
Glad to see Novell feisty again. It's clear they are right and are owed damages. On a side note, our company ditched MS this year and went back to Novell. Security was the main concern as well as spiralling costs of supporting MS servers. It's kind of cool to see Novell servers in all the locations again, like it used to be.
Hydrogen is very unefficient. It takes huge amounts of energy to create it. If you want to replace all oil use for transportation in the UK, you need 500 nuclear power plants to produce the energy needed for hydrogen production.
It makes no sense.
Moreover, you need trillions for investments in infrastructure and storage.
Biodiesel is way cheaper, and doesn't need huge investments. That's why it is quickly becoming the preferred fuel in eco-conscious societies like the EU.
Hey stupid! A gas truck can explode near a school too!
Finally some hope that we can become free of the devil's blood (oil). Some hope that maybe even if it's 20 years from now we might see a balanced trade deficit (it wont happen as long as we import oil).
They could put one of these stations in my back yard and I would wash windows for free! Hooray lets get off the oil barrel!

BUT I ASKED FOR 5000 DEAD SLANT EYED MUSLIMS!
Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas!
no doubt.
libs would be popping champagne bottles and passing out cigars like they did on 9/11

...for "scientific" purposes... maybe they are feeling guilty and want to save the species now. Yea!!!
now she has to be balanced and rotated every 10,000 miles.

Artificial fin? It's a frickin' dolphin, right? Good grief! Break out the tartar sauce and beer batter. Time for Flipper and chips.

Intel should have just made watercooling standard on the Prescott CPU. Apple could have said they stole the idea from them like everything else ;)
Intel changes sockets, Mobo and other specs periodically to force people to update to their latest crap. Don't expect a rush to BTX. It's another Intel spec unlikely to ever gain foothold...

Just say NO!
Warm air from the CPU is exhausted out the FRONT of the case????
Since they are probably going to be dumping the P4 in favor of the PM (eventually)?
I thought one of the main reasons why BTX was designed was to better handle the hotter P4 processors and to cool them more efficiently?
