Nintendo never bought the rights to the Mega-man games, the developers paid Nintendo for distribution rights for their platform because without it they wouldn't be allowed access due to the 'lock-out' chip that was built into the NES. The reason the games can come out on other systems is because Capcom still own's the rights to them. However, Nintendo can still sell the games because of the distribution rights they acquired back in the 80's.
RedHat makes money selling an OS that competes with Fedora. Making Fedora good is in opposition to their financial goals.
In my experience Red Hat makes most of its money off of supporting RHEL, no selling it.
If the existance of Fedora hurt them so bad financially, it's a simple fact that it would be gone by now.
I don't think the story is really so much about what MySpace.com is used for, I think it is moreso about the fact that one of the most visited sites in the world went down, and that would fall into the category of news for nerds.
I completely agree. Why pay $5.99 (average PPV movie price) for a low resolution, and compressed movie that I have to either watch on my ipod, monitor, or media box somewhere, when I can wait a day and have a DVD in my mailbox? Not to mention, over the course of a month I can rent a whole lot more DVD's for the same price?
It just does not seem logical that this would replace THAT much of the Netflix market. Let's be honest, people want to watch movies, not fiddle around with them for an hour to be able to watch a movie on their home TV.
Im sure Apple would love to see a MacMini in every home, but how many people are really going to bite at this?
I just can't visualize or imagine what puprose this will have. Anyone have any ideas?
It has been reported that the speaker on the 'Wii-mote' is used to make the bow stretching and release noises in the forthcoming Zelda game. It is also stated that it plays the old school theme.
it's really just about the music. And that's just data.
While I mostly agree with this, I have to admit that sometimes I like to have something to hold when I shell out $20.00 bucks for a movie. Sometimes that cheap plastic disk takes on a little more value for that reason.
"Who doesnt want to see mind numbingly repetitive out-takes and deleted scenes that no one wants to see? what about the countless hours of commentry by random nobodies.. "oh yeah this is the bit where i was in the back doing nothing important and i dropped my pen, so if you turn up the volume REALLY LOUD you can just about hear it hit the floor!"
I tend to agree with you on this point. It would seem that Joe moviegoer doesn't care at all about out-takes, deleted scenes, or commentary.
I certainly have no problem with them, as I learned more from DVD commentaries in a few months than I learned in my first year of film school.
How can the "opiate of the masses" create violent crazies? Maybe the violent crazies would have been violent crazies without the religious influence, and the religion simply provided a convenient banner to fly?
Is it just me, or are the 'religious influences' the ones that are influencing them as what they are to belive and how they are to act?
If these people believe in this doctrine and yet are still violent crazies, how can the doctrine and faith in that doctrine not be responsible?
But they can't strap you into your chair. Do what I do, start the movie, well before you want to start watching, pause when actual movie starts. You can make popcorn or even eat dinner while you wait to get to the pause point.
That is a fine idea, but for 5 minutes of googling and an iso of a new "firmware," you are ready to skip those previews whenever you feel it to be convenient.
I love when people bitch about the price of cinema snacks, because you simply don't have to buy any! I mean, it's not hard, folks. I generally get a coffee or something that's very close to the price on the outside world, and save my money for another movie ticket or a beer afterwords. I figured out snacks were a rip off 25 years ago.
Why not save the cost of the coffee and beer afterwards and just put a 6 pack in a bag. I've been enjoying good beer during movies for quite some time now.
My solution tp purchasing theatre snacks is to go to an indie theatre. Usually their tickets are cheaper, snacks are cheaper, and in some cases they actually have real food.
I don't know if anyone has done decibel checks on these newer theatres but when they are so loud your head hurts less than halfway through it's too damn loud.
You realize of course that you can just ask the doormen outside the theatre to turn the sound down. When I was in highschool I worked at a theatre (for the free movies) and we got sound complaints all the time. It's really just hit or miss. The old people need it loud in the morning, the kids need it mid grade in the afternoon, and the adults need it fairly loud at night. You just get lazy and forget to adjust the sound.
I guess you missed it when we announced that 'sys-admin' means 16 year old kid that sparatically uses linux to browse myspace, listen to music, and edit a few photos.
I was excited for V for Vendetta too. Until I found out the W brothers were only "producing it" and that the original comic book author said it was so bad he wanted his name off of it.
Back in the days of audioscrobbler there were frequent days and even weeks when the servers would be slow and sometimes even not record data sent, but since the swap of domain and name to last.fm it seems that they have worked out all the kinks. foobar2000 and last.fm work splendid on my windows box. I just wish there was some way to have two different plugins report to the same account. (Even if that led to abusing tags.)
A few years ago SWG was a really fun game with lots of diversity, now that Jedi are running around everywhere and the game has lost every scense of what would actually be Star Wars, I am glad they are making a few changes.

you just won the presidential vote for Utah in 2008 Funny for you, scary for me.... I am a Utah resident.

CompUSA is better, they get straight up cost. MacbookPro - $400 + ebay = $300 profit in 10 minutes.
;-)
I love having friends in 'low' places

Not quite as small, but the REV disk is pretty close.
The games page is finally viewable without sunglasses.
Mod Parent Up.
Because of the bonus features, of course!

work on ipod mini??? I would like to do it on my ipod mini!
You could always RTFA.
FTFA: Page 1, line 8:
There are installation instructions for all flavors of the iPod on the iPodLinux project wiki.

With regards to the 45 minutes of ads, why not just turn up 45 minutes later? :p otherwise, I agree with everything you said really
Turning up 45 minutes later means I sit on the front row and kink my neck for the next 2 hours.
I guess you missed it when we announced that 'sys-admin' means 16 year old kid that sparatically uses linux to browse myspace, listen to music, and edit a few photos.
Does anyone have a mirror of the rant?
It appears to already have been slashdotted.
I guess I am the only lucky one.
In SLC there are at least 3 indy movies houses that show great movies and are cheap. They also have the best midnight movies to boot.
My favorite theatre is called Brewvies. Indy Movie Theatre + Alcohol = No Kids.
Not to mention a good on-tap beer in the theatre is nice.
I was excited for V for Vendetta too. Until I found out the W brothers were only "producing it" and that the original comic book author said it was so bad he wanted his name off of it.
But hey, its Natalie Portman right?
Steve lost cred with me, now I have to scrutinize his offerings, like Munich (which was above average, but missed some facts.)
You realize of course that Munich is not a documentary right? When writing fiction historical facts take the back seat.
