Thanks for that, when you tell someone else that their way of life is "bizarre", then that generally means that they are backwards, or wrong, or stupid. At least in NZ English! I have no problems with what other people thing of me or my country.
Here, Pissed means drunk AND "Pissed" off. Both! Maybe thats from our version of drunk plus the term "Pissed off" from american etc television such as Family Guy etc.
Off topic yes, but as a New Zealander, I'd like to know what bits of our slang you think are stupid. I'm sure that all cultures consider the others to be stupid in at least a couple ways, so If you could give me any examples it would be great. I guess the ones you think are silly are mostly to do with English (English English!) originations that have stuck here but not in some of the other parts of the world, including those that speak American.
I laughed and laughed when I heard about this Txt language on the radio, I guess that its maybe for times when a student might accidentally use a "TXT" word or abbreviation instead of the correct English, its far from being FORCED to use Txt language. If it works, I'm sure we wont even notice it in years to come.
I think thats ridiculous that patents stop companies from incorporating obvious features, like the scroll wheel for instance. I do find it funny that Microsoft cant (cant?) implement it on the Zune, even with this letter search thing that it does, pushing ups and downs is gonna suck. Shouldn't a company be able to incorporate things like that, obvious things? Its not like Ford patented everything on their cars, and Honda etc cant have round wheels, or brakes made of metal etc
You forgot to mention we all have to speak Maori except when trying to recruit people to join the Cult of Gods Own!
Seriously d00ds, NZ blows! When you first arrive they lock you in the gulags of Helengrad (I shudder to say the name) with She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, where its foggy all the time and smells like rotten eggs, which in NZ is pronounced "Ro-ta-rue-a".
In New Zealand we call our version "Bullrush", but its different as we have the one guy in the middle who then calls for either Bullrush or singles out one person to run past them. If a person is singled out, then they can call, at any time, Bullrush, which makes everyone else run too.
The other difference is that you only had to be touched by the "catcher" and then you had to stand still where you were caught, and try and reach people running past to add them to the captives. Its quite fun because of this rule, you get walls of people on the field as of course people can only catch those running past them. Eventually they mostly cover the entire width of the field and make the runners have to worry about getting past these AND the guy who is moving, who could pretend to be a stationary catcher....:)
Saw your comment on this article too, god you sure are wrong about America Vs "Teh Bad Guys"!
3)Stable Iraq leads to entire stable middle east - Mission Accomplished!
It hasn't made things worse.
Then why are our petrol prices up all around the world? Everytime we hear of a new attack etc, then the Oil supplies somehow get endangered, and thus the price goes up and up... Thanks America for liberating the Iraqis!
Again you missed the point again with your patriotism. Its not about "but we had to", its about the fact, the truth, that America is the only country to ever have used their nuclear weapons on another.
Thats a different matter though, I am meaning how you (presumably) Americans go about telling others what we CAN and CAN'T do, supressing the rest of the world of things like Nuclear weapons etc, despite being the only one to have ever used a nuke on your fellow human beings. You can argue all you want about "America had to use the nuke to save lives from an invasion" like I had to in History class, but when push comes to shove, you are the only ones to have subjected people to the horrors of Nuclear weapons and here you are trying to stop NK from giving you "revenge". To be truly silly, imagine how many of their "million man army" North Korea will save if they use their new Nukes on their enemies! (Note, I do not agree with any country launching war on another, just using your point against you in an attempt to sound like a nutter)
I totally agree, I live in NZ and dont see why we would be attacked by nuculear means as we only help out basically every country in peril. We have practically no means to defend ourselves, I wonder if we now made a move to go nuculear (which basically would never ever happen) if America would have a problem with that.
You cant say that NK is bat fuck insane, look at goddam America! I mean, cmon, tell me, or use Wikipedia if you have to, who is the self proclaimed single "superpower" in the world? And who is the only country, EVER, to have launched nuclear bombs onto another country, knowing they would kill hundreds of thousands? Damn right, just think before running your mouth.
Good Call, Now Im not going to be stupid and say "go NK" etc, But shouldnt everyone have the right to Nuclear weapons? if America (using the "only superpower" as the best example) is so against them, why dont they agree, with all other countries, to disarm all theirs?
(ps I do realise "what if the other countries cheat and keep some, then we are defenseless")
I just watched one of those E! channel (or whatever) shows the top 101 things about the 90's, I bet that we will always remember the iPod, the thing that got us from actual discs to stuff "streamed" from the "network". Tapes, Cds, now HDD/Flash. I think its worth calling the iPod a revolution for that.
I can see the future shows, The Top 101 Things of The 2000's, with the iPod taking out number one, they will have heaps of washed up stars saying "yeah, I used to have this thing from, you know, err, Dell, it used to be called Dell then, and it was called a umm...." etc.
I really just dont see what you people do on the subject of the non replaceable battery. Now, I hear that the the current ones have their batteries soldered on (?), but I know from experience on the matter when I changed my 3G battery a couple months ago.
It was difficult, after the 8 hour drive home, to crack it open at 2am, but it was possible. I bent a pin out of shape, but got that bent correctly back with the tools that came with the kit.
Its not a big deal! Do you think that Apple should have to have a huge friggin clip on the back, and then little instructions on "how to replace your iPod battery..." on the inside? It would look hideous!!! I tell you what, most people dont replace their iPod batteries, its only for those who got 3G ones that died quickly etc, you know, the faulty Sony batteries, and why not just get another iPod, I know if I did, I would have gotten at least 10 new features, any one of which would have been "worth it". I like the pause-when-you-take-out-headphones thing on the newer ones, the colour screens, better battery life etc.
Give it up on the "iPod batteries die and then they want you to give them ALL your money!!!111!!!" stuff.
I am in NZ (no music store AT ALL), and have a 2.4ghz P4M laptop. I have added videos (mpeg) to itunes, and when i play some of them in itunes, they are.....way off, maybe playing at 40% or something, its just upsets me so much to watch. If i put the size of the video playing down, as in, to a tiny dot or there abouts, they will play fine. That would normally suggest it was my pc being too slow right, but its 2.4ghz and the damn things work fine in WMP or anything else! hell, my dvd player could play them just fine, how come the fastest thing in the house wont?
Good point, shame you got modded flamebait, but this is an american site. We really need to have a free internet site, where anyone can post VALID opinions.
I know what you are saying, I myself am only 18, so probably a "kid" in your terms, and I agree about them not learning because they dont *HAVE* to learn, but consider this.
Here in New Zealand, and probably schools around the world, 5 year olds are learning to capture and edit movies, then burn them on to dvd's. I think thats something, they use iMacs with iMovie so it is easy, but for 5 year olds to be able to shoot "film", and edit it quite well, with menus etc, and then make a disc of it. Little tiny laser beams inside a slick white box a 2 inches thick, burning tiny dots and dashes onto a polycarbonate disc, all piloted by a 5 year old? How would that have sounded a few years back?
Thanks for that lol. But its sorta principle, I as someone who goes about telling everyone how great the iPod and iTunes are, and yet I cant use iTunes. I remember when the podcasting came out (on iTunes of course), how I could...SEE the songs etc! i actually print screened some of the artist pages lol, as a fill in. Laugh if you must! This Album import is a bugger though.
Honestly, I live in New Zealand and dont have the iTunes Store (what its called now?), I'd KILL for the chance to buy my music through it, to at least say ive done it. I cant believe its still not in my country, its in Australia, which is where our cds are made etc, so i thought we would have gotten it at the same time. What im most upset by, is the fact that i had to use Google Images to get my cover art, you know, for the cds i imported, and which i fully own. I wish that i could have just told it to get my covers for me, but it only works that way if you have an account, of which i cant get. Unless I, an 18 year old New Zealander, were to have an American Credit Card for example. Imagine that, having the hassle of a credit card from another country, just to buy "99 cent" songs that cost $2.70 or something (99 cents is SO much sexier). Pity me.
ill take this one. I am a windows user (mainly) who wants a mac but is saving for his first car and then going to get a mac. It helps keep me off when i know that they are getting so much better, more so than they should, at the mo, ie, from ppc to intel, and then core2.... if they just had 64bit dual cores in the first place... anyway.
Imagine the 17 inch Powerbook G4. NOT THE MACBOOK PRO DAMMIT, the Powerbook. imagine that space with a WHOLE new keypad hurled in. and then, i dunno, a middle speaker down the bottom, for a sub? what else do you want to clutter the hell out of it with? i remember old pcs had all those lines etc on the front, as a "design", yet they would have looked better completely smooth. there was too much going on it would have looked yuck. as for the imac, i love how its on the side, if you want one at the front theres the G4, or G3. Its very "in" having that wonderful looking space.
thanks for the comment, Id be willing to pay $100 of my money, the NZD, and i roughly halfed for american although it may be closer to $70 american, i just went with the lowest possible, afterall its a DREAM product lol!
Yeah, I share your dream too, i think its silly that people say that "Apple should do this and only Apple can save us from that..", who knows, maybe they will sell electronic books next for their new epaper device???
With my idea though, I hear that to add bluetooth and wifi to the PS3 costs about a buck, im sure intel has the right chips etc for everything and then theres just the touchscreen to handle. Im trying to be realistic as possible here, as i dont want the iPod to get stuffed up having new features thrown in, i already hate how iTunes does videos etc now, but iMedia doesnt sound as good eh? maybe "iDrop" in which it could actually stand for "Delivery Really accelerates Our Profits!" lol.
Back to my idea, it would be cool if it could have a very basic speaker too, maybe vibrate, but no streaming music etc, i hope the iPod does get that as it really makes sense, note that i myself DO NOT use wifi, but im hoping to when the need comes around. I think the iPod should just show up in iTunes and be able to be sent music just as you can play through remote speakers. That doesnt belong in the business/personal control whatever niche that my "iPad" belongs in.
Here, Pissed means drunk AND "Pissed" off. Both! Maybe thats from our version of drunk plus the term "Pissed off" from american etc television such as Family Guy etc.
Thanks for your reply, have a great day.

Go be an arsehole somewhere else. Its also HILARIOUS silly.
Again you missed the point again with your patriotism. Its not about "but we had to", its about the fact, the truth, that America is the only country to ever have used their nuclear weapons on another.
lol, joking my northern neighbour, lol, Having fun with the accent! Lol, glad to see someone anal about spelling! You must be new here!

LOL, I was just going to mention that, I got one, its TOTALLY badass, in a geek way. Even got a card with The Speech on it.
