I hear people say this all the time, "What the big deal building a PC?"
I always remind them of that when I get the call to fix their computer.
I've also notice the people that say that are people who usually never actually put a PC together.
Plus, building a PC is more then just plugging the parts together and flipping it on. You need to make sure the bios is correct, and that the OS is setup correct.
wish I would of waited to activate my Guild Wars for this beta weekend. I would of used fileplanets, and kept the one i used for the next one, just in case.
oh, well, still got 2 more cds with keys on them.
if there is even that many beta weekends left...
oh, I would of modded your post up, parent, but I had already posted to this topic (yours, is the second or 3rd post)
I got to play during the WOW beta, and enjoyed it very much. I play alot of EQ and Lineage II, and am going to try the Guild Wars this weekend. So far, with the exception of Guild Wars, Wow has been the best MMO. I find that wow has alot of things I like in the game. I like how I don't feel like i have to wait forever and often for mana to regen, and I like how I can zoom back to 3rd person mode and it's all works well together.
I've been playing on Free Servers for EQ and Lineage II. When I can afford to pay a monthly fee for an online game, it would probably be wow. but until I get to try EQ2 and City of Hero's (really interested in the City of Villians expanstion), which a friend got for christmas, I won't be sure.
I'm going to do it's beta weekend this weekend. I ended up with 3 activation codes for it, but missed the Dec 4 beta weekend. Hopefully they have more then this january 7th.
except, when you police contact your neighbor, and they find out that they live next to you, nothing was taken, and all you were doing is fixing their lock (let's face it, if the locks broken, you don't need to break in the house, and unless the door swings inwards, you may not even need to step into their house), chances are pretty good that you won't be convicted of anything, if it even made it as far as court.
Now, it would be sort of suspisous on how you knew the lock was broken, and the risk if someone else actually broken the lock to get into the house and stoled stuff, then you might get the blame. So basicly, it's not a good idea to fix stuff on others property without their permission.
But as the article said, the fix did cause a slow down to the site. Maybe the fix virus writer might of been more effective to make a program that checks for vulnerable files, and then updates them. Then email the admin (probably think it was spam)
I guess the only good solution is for admins to keep up with the updates.
The self service at the Qfc (Quality Food Center, chain of grocery stores) has self-check, and you do not have to put the items on the scale after you scan them. You only have to put stuff you need to weigh on the scale. But there is a camera pointed at where you scan, and both a picture and what you scan is on at monitor at an cashier station. You need to give them coupons, and they check ID for alcohol, but other then that, it's all automatic. I'll spend 2 minutes time, probably max. scan my items, and pay cash or card. done. don't know why people bother standing in line for a few items.
If scammer was in Afghanistan then all the MailingList seller/programmer would have to do is report that the guy is selling fradulent software to support the terrorist.
My only complaint is they changed the clothes and I think it looks worse then before. And why I say worse, I mean these people are dressed as the totally lame New Wave look that TV made popular. Not the cool New Wave look that made the 80's great. But I didn't play it for how it looks, I hit escape on all those scenes anyways.
In EQ, there's been a few times when people have bothered me, like edge in on my camp, when there's plenty of places they can go without getting in on someone else's action. I'd just buff and heal whatever they were fighting. Sooner or later they get the point, or they die, either way, they then leave me alone.
But I haven't had that much problems on EQ, all in all. And now that alot of people have moved on to the other games, it's sort of nice there, mostly the hardcores who are trying to enjoy the game (like the raid that went on from 6pm (it's 2:30am how) and where still playing when i logged off a half hour ago.
But i did check out some of the "free" mmorpgs that are being made and besides that aren't as nice as something you pay for, theres still a lot of the lame aspect of online going off. Which is people that think because they basicly anonymouse they have the right to act like lame fucks. But since the days of BBS hosted on peoples home computers (before Internet became main stream, the old days) there has always been a rather large poplulation of lame-asses who enjoy flameing, being obnocious, and any other words i can misspell.
sounds to me like you either didn't have DMA on, were trying to copy using 2 drives that were on the same channel, or the software you used was a demo and stuck at 2x recording.
I personally think it was that you had the 2 drives on the same channel. This is very common. Used to frustrate me until I figured it out.
Look at the history of book-film conversions. 95% of them suck. allways. Yet, she was happy to accept the money they paid her for the rights to use earthsea. I first read her books when I was in 7th grade, and have read them many times since. I was sort of surprised to find that she conciously makes her characters non-white. I thought the 3 Earthsea books were good, but I never did read anything else she wrote.
I just don't think she should be complaining. If you wanted a movie or mini-series to follow her story, she needs to produce it herself. But she didn't, she sold someone else the rights to it, and wasn't even smart enough to give her self more control in the decision makings. Wonder what they paid her for it?
I hope ATI is watching and planning something accordingly with their next gpu. With their chips being lower power and less heat, I would think sticking 2 gpu's would be a smart move. Or even better, able to put 2 mobile gpu's in it, so you could upgrade to newer gpus when they come out.
"How the hell do you get into a 400 level class without meeting the course pre-reqs? In my University, each class has some dependancies that build up to quite the tree if you want to take a 400 level class. I'm planning on taking CMPT 432 next year, but to get there I've had to do CMPT 111, 115, 214, 215, 250, 332 + MATH 110. Because of the time required for these classes, it's been a few years to get to this point. So how'd you jump into a 400 level class in your first year?"
Easy, they either took college courses in high school, or they took a test that placed them in that class. Or they could of taken the finals for the courses and got credit for them, though i'm not sure if schools let that happen.
I skipped a required classess because I already knew that stuff. I would of had to take a lot of stupid, boring computer classes that I already knew. If i'm paying for an education, I would like to take classess that I'm actually learning something at.

That is why MS would never let it get to court. they use there money to keep delaying it, and what not, till the other party couldn't afford it anymore.
okay, I used the Wayback machine to search Microsoft for IE that you can download. Unfortunetly, they don't have the actual page, but they do have the top downloads page, and it shows IE version 6
WEll,i've downloaded IE without using MS Update. You were able to go to MS and download IE v5 and V6 when it came out. It was called iesetup.exe and it would download rest of the files. I'm sure if I would of dug around the MS website I would of found the full setup file. It was when version 6 came out, and not everyone had the requirements to run it.
after all, if they keep updating the programs, does it count as a new download. I mean, if they did let say, 100 updates, then only 10,000 different people downloaded it.
I mean, it's cool and all that it's reached the 1,000,000 download mark, but it's not like it's a finished product that recieved all the downloads.
I'm not trying to knock this or anything, but it reminds me of the crappy advertising that seems to be accepted by people. Like the monitor size bullshit, or the Mega-BIT/BYTE crap. Or using months instead of years to make it look like you worked somewhere longer.
Yes, BZFlag has had 1,000,000 downloads......by 3 people.
Anyone remember that game that was in black and white because it was using C64 High Res graphics mode? I think it was Xybot or something. Pretty sure it was 2 players, hunt each other and robots 3D sort of view where you could move forward, or backward, and turn left or right. and shoot.

After a long day at school, the last thing I wanted to do was be challenged and have to use both a mouse and a keyboard to relax and unwind."
I find that funny, because all my friends that are into computer games (don't own consoles) think i'm weird because I enjoy joystick games on my computer. I also play alot of mouse/keyboard games. Maybe it's because I grew up with C64 and such.
But I don't find it any less relaxing playing a game with a mouse/keyboard then using a joystick.
maybe you should try reading the driver update from ati, and you'll find that ati is still fixing things for the 85xx series of cards, and yes, actually, 9800 tend to get a lot of fixes. Now my 9600 hasn't seen much in driver updates, but i'm not complaining.

Well, even though this is off-topic, i'm going to give a link for any TRS-80 fans out there.

Freelancer is a fun game, and surprisedly, some people fixed it's universe addressing most of your complaints, if not all.

Why you are waiting for this "magic program" to do what you want. Why don't you go over to google.com and type in: Total Recorder download

Why can't people just ignore stupid people?
oh, maybe I should ask myself...

LogiWave shouldn't of been relying on bugs in Windows OS. that's just plain bad programming.
