This wont affect most people, but those who are succeptible, perhaps pots a bad idea. The trick scientifically is identifying those in danger.

Jesus was a big fan of rejecting unjust laws.
The below is from Luke, but there are many other examples.

    A Spirit of Infirmity

10 Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. 11 And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. 12 But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” 13 And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

14 But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.”

15 The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? 16 So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” 17 And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him.

              Luke 13:10-17

In The Old Testament, there's a great example of King David insisting that the ruler of a synagogue give David and his soldiers some holy bread as they were all extremely hungry. The holy bread was dedicated to God and could only be eaten by priests, but David correctly asserted that God doesn't want his children to die over this matter.

Going to point out it's a weird thing for a NA book to say since most drug users have to repeatedly kick drugs before they figure out how to quit completely. And NA is about keeping sober and it's okay if you fall of the wagon, just get back on. Quite a different attitude then "don't keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results" that is just saying no point in even trying to kick drugs because you won't do it.

If it's supposed to mean that doing drugs and expecting something different is crazy, you do drugs to get high. You aren't expecting anything other then that high, and you generally are NOT disappointed.

Yes, you deprived them of income by taking the movie without paying for it. The fact that they still have it available to distribute to someone else is irrelevant. If you later buy a DVD of it legitimately, that is a separate transaction and next to impossible to trace back to a pirated original viewing and also irrelevant for them to have to justify.

What if i bought the DVD at a used DVD store? I'm still depriving the movie studio of their profits, since they won't get any on the used movie.

I'm not sure you understand the concept that you aren't going to get profit on every copy of a movie that someone views, it's impossible.
