How ironic this is. We are causing global warming by polluting our atmosphere. Yet if we stop polluting the atmosphere, we will speed up global warming. I think it's time to admit we're screwed either way.
Yahoo!'s filter sucks. I get more than 700 spam emails a day in my Yahoo! account (had account for 7 years), and usually, 100 or more of those are in my inbox, not the bulk folder. I'd rather scan through the spam folder really quick and designate 1 friend as "Not-spam" than to have to mark 100+ messages EVERY DAY as read, then designate them as spam, just to see the other 10 friends that emailed me. And what really pissed me off about Yahoo! is they are partly responsible for me getting spam in my Yahoo! account in the first damn place.
At least Gmail's filter already recognized the spam. Yahoo!'s filter only assumes that which I have already designated as spam as such.
Don't worry... once Linux becomes half as mainstream as Windows, you'll get your fair share of viruses, malware, and the like. Hide behind Linux all you want, but pray to God that the masses don't start switching.
It will not hurt cable companies one bit... on the contrary, if the bell companies increase their prices for DSL/Phone Service, the cable companies will be able to do the same.
Since the cable companies own their lines and are the direct connection to the customer, they can be directly compared to the bell companies. This would relate the same as if Comcast was forced by the FCC to allow Charter (or any other cable tv provider) to use their networks. But fortunately for the cable companies, it is far more difficult to share their network than it is for the bell companies. Cable is not run over fiber, it is all coaxial. For them to share their network they would have to do massive upgrades to their systems and wiring, because if not, the overbearing traffic would seriously degrade the performance so bad that they would probably start losing customers to the bell companies. The reason cable did not take off so quickly in the beginning was because people were worried that the more customers were using cable, the worse performance would be.
I refuse to get service from them now, as I have Vonage (vonage.com) and cable broadband. I pay less for both Comcast broadband and Vonage to have everything I had with BellSouth and more. Wanna make a difference? Go to Vonage or another similar service and switch your ISP to any non-phoneline dependent service. I guarantee that in a year or two, the competition will be allowed to return.
Yes, it is bad. Think about it. Everyone is trying so hard to get rid of SPAM. If MS can stick a coupon in an email that you sent, what makes that any different than SPAM? The person who is getting my email certainly didn't sign up to receive offers from StarBucks, nor did I request that those offers be automatically injected into my personal outgoing email.

Even better would be a radar detector with built-in WiFi detection :D

But I'll bet you didn't even bother to designate the mail list traffic as not-spam...
If ST:TNG already did this, then wouldn't it be life imitating art?
Oh yeah, well I have trillian and have AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo!, and IRC all in one client.

What's up with that collar?!
All computer/internet crime committed in the United States is under federal jurisdiction, thus the FBI is involved.

How is sabotaging our own software an act against Russia? It's their own damn fault that they stole it.
Hmm, I guess all those mice must think I'm a terrorist, since I'm the one putting the mousetraps under the cheese... "Damn those giant terrorists!!!"
