I use this all the time and it's the one thing (well there is more than one actually) I truly miss when having to go back to Windows. I mean come on how freaking hard would this be to implement in Explorer? I was working on a SLES box one day with a coworker and he was impressed that you could do that and he thoroughly detest Linux. It amazes me how many people in the IT industry still believe the FUD. It's been said before but the real thing that's holding Linux back from widespread adoption (in the home market at least) is commercial games.
Novell is now using Linux to replace NDS and it is working for them.
That not exactly what Novell is doing. They're using Linux to replace the Netware OS and migrating services (NDS,iPrint, ifolder, etc.) to the Linux platform. After 6.5 (maybe 7.0 I'll have to double check) there will be no more Netware OS. NDS is still going strong. NDS != Netware OS just as Active Directory != Windows 2000 Server.
Civics damnit! Let's start with the one subject that no one who post to slashdot has any clue about but doesn't keep them posting any of their ill founded rants.
I said it before, maybe if they actually taught civics in school kids might know these answers. I also noticed that made no metion of freedom of relegion, I guess that one doesn't count anymore.
I only use Mozila/Firefox for web browsing anymore. The only time I use IE is to access Windows update site. Last time I updated I had some crappy spyware toolbar installed. Thanks IE, clean up your own backyard before griping about the neighbors.
Its bad enough we have to put up with loud mouthed, opinionated, elitist Northern assholes at all but to have them move next door would be totally unacceptable. It would be carpet bagging all over again. Do us all a favor stay were you are and shut up, we all tired of the wise ass cracks about Southerners.
Oddly reminiscent of 12 monkeys. I just hope one day I don't end up in a sleazy hotel prying my teeth out with some pimps switch blade so the "man" can't track me any more.
Come on. If civics were still taught in schools it would cut down on 90% of these stupid questions/comments about the popular vote. There is a reason for the electoral college.

This is the best comment on outsourcing that I've ever read on Slashdot. It is good to know that some readers have sense and don't spout the same old "It's globalization get used to it" crap that you read all the time. mod parent up! (twice if you have to).
How much of these numbers lost were jobs that were created during the tech boom? What I'm saying how would this really look if the tech bubble never happend. If you have 400k jobs lost but those jobs were semi bogus jobs created during the bubble then is it a real decline?
If this guy had a really good lawyer he would have Microsoft catching all the blame, and get a big fat settlement from the boys at Redmond for his troubles. In the days when people can sue McDonalds because their coffee is too hot anything is possible.

MS needs to stick with writing OSes instead of trying to stick their finger in every pie.

I don't know if lip stains were the only side effects, Piter seemed awful twitchy.
If you read the article this only applies to computers with TV turner cards. But regardless this is still the FCC overstepping their bounds.

Is Balmer not aware that iTunes has been ported to Windows?

If this bill does get canceled it will probably be from a backlash from healthcare workers, nurses especially, not IT that causes it.
