I can't remember where I heard about it, bbc website or the TV news, but a recent report concluded that CCTV did not produce a drop in violent crime. However, the serverity of the injuries suffered was reduced because the emergency services could get on the scene quicker.

Personally, I am not a big fan of being watched everytime I enter the city centre - but I offset this against the fact the Police Officers could be deployed more effectively. I feel the same way about speed / safety cameras.

With regards to hunting, I thought that the best human defence was not that we moved about on two feet, but that we developed more mentally - particularly with regards to groups tactics and the use of tools / weapons.

First up I am a massive Tour cycling fan, but the whole doping issue is a big problem in the sport.

And we are seeing a lot of cases now of people never failing a drugs test, but being implicated in doping offences. David Millar, the GB Rider, has just been booted from the Tour and Athens for admitting to using EPO. And he hadn't failed a test.

Personally, I believe that Armstrong is clean, he is a great rider with a very powerful team. Or at least I have a lot more confidence about him being clean than I do about other US atheletes / sportspeople.

Every time this argument comes around we have the same old points, but (and I know this is /.) I can't remember seeing any real evidence. So here are some questions that prehaps can be answered with more than opinion.

    1) How much have artists lost out because of d/ls?

    2) How many people would actually buy a legal copy of the product after "sampling" it?

    3) Revenue from touring vs cd sales, which is greater (and lets have some numbers here)?

    4) Estimated cost to people working within the record industry, but not artists ie. studio's, cd ractory staff etc?

    5) Do record companies make excessive profit on cd sales? What would be an acceptable level of profit?

I am sure that there are hundreds more questions that people, who would like to make a more informed decision, want answered. I am all ears for evidence. But I am not holding my breath.
