Google on the other hand is a brand name that even Average Joe knows about. THAT is what I think might help here. I'm not saying it's gonna be a success because of the Google touch, just saying there is a lot more value to this brand than the other brands you mentioned.

I was giving myself as an example so that if someone obese does read it, they know that people did go through the same troubles before things start getting better. Try to understand the intention of others before blindly critisizing them. Ask them if you are not sure what people say/meant to say.

  4. Re:Obesity comes from a simple condition... on Obesity Contagious? · · Score: 1

As for the knees crumbling, it's not that people get obese overnight! So they or their parents should have encouraged exercise at a younger age. If people are born obese at birth, then I'm sure a doctor would be able to help choose the proper diet for the baby. Babies aren't as picky about the food as kids/adults -- yes they would cry and make a fuss, but it's the parent's responsibility if they want their kids to have a healthy life.

I was a bag of bones till the age of 15 and was short too. I kinda grew over night (during the summer vacation) and started putting on weight since then. Recently I was 30 pounds over weight according to the BMI index and I decided to take control. Now I'm 5 pounds overweight and getting better. I have a controlled diet, and exercise 2 - 3 times a week. I did have knee pain when I started running, so I did a gradual increase and my knees don't hurt anymore. Btw, I hardly play any sports.

So I conclude it's a matter of personal responsibility.

Anyway, the basic message he was trying to get across, in my opinion, was that no matter what you do these days, technology is going to play a role, so it would be advantageous to embrace it. Technology is becoming ubiquitous in the home. Most sciences rely on some sort of software for simulation or analysis. Traditional blue collar jobs are disappearing because they are being automated. Therefore, if you want a job in the future, you're going to need a better education than you could get away with in the past.

If that's what he really said, then he is missing one biiiig point - Learning computer science alone is not going to help you. You need to use computers as a tool to enhance your work on whatever feild you got your degree on. Just because we have computers and it can do simulations doesn't mean we don't need mechanics or doctors.

I would assume that when people say "We hate Americans" they actually mean the government. No one is going to see an American citizen and hate him for no reason. And no one would say "We hate the 53% of the Americans who voted for Bush" -- it would be a waste of energy (and a disctaction) to put forth such a highly directed comment when their main point is that the are affected in a bad way by the American government.

The only people who would hate an individual American may be the terrorists and fundamentalists who support them, who think their way of fighting a government is by hurting the people who voted for the government. I'm not saying the terrorists are right, just acknowledging that my assumption might be wrong for a particular case.

My point, exactly. These races are fun, provide good marketing, but don't solve the real challenge to commercialization.

I had the same thoughts when I attended the qualifiers of NASC 2005. Personally, I think the management should add rules like:

    1. The driver should have a comfortable seat. With specs as to what is considered comfortable.

    2. Should be able to take along x pounds of additional "load" and should have at least x cc of volume for the "load" area. Akin to the trunk of a car.

The solar cars would start to suck big time on the first race they meet these rules, but will motivate innovation towards commercialization. Well if no innovation is possible, we would at least be tryig towards it instead of copying designs.

    My 2 cents.
