The amount of physical media needed to make a FLAC dvd solution viable is going to prevent this from dominating the market. Who wants to deal with all of those dvd's? Storage, portability, damage from scratches, inability to make playlists... these are some of the things that make DVD's not as convenient as something like a hard-drive music player.
One thing people will almost always choose is convenience.
Also, DVD's can become expensive as a hard-drive player rather quickly.
Unfortunately there is plenty of room for frustration on both sides of this issue.
Students who quickly assimilate the information taught in school do not see the need for homework. For them this is just idle busy-work, reinforcing concepts for which they already have a firm grasp. Unfortunately for them one of the important lessons learned in early school years is actually how to do this homework. Many of these students encounter this deficiency later on in their lives - I was definitely one of these.
On the other hand, as the frustrated teacher's post above me demonstrates, a teacher's job is nearly impossible and the more student's educations they are in charge of, the greater the challenge becomes. No two students are going to learn at the same pace or in the same manner. Oftentimes teachers can not focus on the very bright but bored students -oftentimes this is because the students who are struggling with a particular subject need to be brought up to par before a teacher can even begin to worry about teaching homework habits, or further challenging a students who prematurely grasps the curriculum.
A "Gay gene" or combination of genes that code for "gay" may also code for other traits that convey an evolutionary advantage. An example of this is sickle cell anemia which genetically correlated with a resistance to Malaria. Since sickle cell anemia is recessive it does not always kill the host of the gene however, the resistance to malaria allows the host to survive and thus have a reproductive advantage over those that do not carry the sickle cell anemia gene. If there is a genetic source for gayness a similar mechanism may be at work.
Also, kin selection may be a factor. A gay individual, while not having children of their own, may do things to increase the reproductive success of their relatives whose children will carry some of the gay individuals genes.
Also, historically, many gay individuals have had children in spite of their homosexuality due to cultural pressures. Modern reproductive technology serves a similar purpose.
"If musicians (whoever they are) think that modern technology rips them off, they are always free to go back to old-fashioned ways"
I think that this is a common misunderstanding of the issue.
In my experience, as a musician, it is rarely the musicians who are raising a stink over copyright infringement, music "sharing," etc... While it may hurt musicians financially, they are usually very pleased that their music is being listened too - whatever the medium of distribution.
"Dang, what makes them believe that they are entitled to millions"
Musicians rarely see much money from recorded music. It is the record labels that are making millions from cookie cutter "artists." It is also the record labels that are raising a stink over file sharing in the name of the "poor musicians." Because, face it, nobody is going to feel much sympathy for a corporate record label.
"going in wagons here and there and people will throw them money in their hats. Hard to steal that, right?"
This already is how musicians make most of their money - live shows and tours.
No . . . I am not affitiated with spamgourmet.com in anyway except as a satisfied user.
For a while now I have been using disposable addresses for all of my online activities using the free service provided by http://www.spamgourmet.com .
Basically disposable emails are created which forward a specified number of messages to your real account, after which all messages are "eaten." You can choose to continue to recieve email from any of your disposable addresses after they have expired.
Second Life is also available as a Mac Beta. It has pretty steep hardware requirements but runs well.
One aspect of Second Life that seperates it from other virtual worlds such as There and the Sims Online, is the degree to which the "players" are in control of the contents of the world.
Also, items created in Second Life belong to their creators under the Creative Commons liscense.
If this Yellow Dog release is anything like past releases the new version will be first available to Enhanced account holders. Shortly thereafter it will be made available for public download.
I beleave Mandrake also offers a similar program for their Club members.
One thing that I appreciate about Gentoo is their support for the PPC architecture in both their live CDs and the main deal. Knopix et al do not run on PPC. There are a few other projects out there, however, they are mostly in alpha stages.
yay gentoo
I agree. Context and intention are the key factors in determining the charges and punishment brough against someone who commits a criminal act.
One of the biggest problems with our current "war on terrorism" both overseas and here in the United States is how vague the definition of terrorism can be.
Abuse of the 911 number carries stiff penaltys and this man should face appropriate punishment for his actions. However, automatcally jumping into a charge of "terrorism" may not be appropriate in this case.
Smell-O-Vision meets internet meets 2004. Marketing-droids that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Or Something like that.

Any of the Blackbox related window window managers are great. They are minimalistic while still looking great
