    ini files were one of the best things that ever came out of microsoft. There's a reason they've lasted as long as they have. IMHO, they are far better than any rc file. The ability to have multiple key/value pairs grouped by section is wonderful. If the item is not there, the function returns null.


    With an API for this, programmers never have to write their own config file logic/access methods. If you look at your kde rc files, they are in fact the same as ini files. The kconfig class goes one step further; It does not just read/write key values/pairs in groups. You can tell it to write more than strings. You can pass it a QFont object, and it will write the font string (XLFD -- X Logical Font Descriptor) to the file.

    Any refinery, factory, etc, that has their real world device controls accessible to the internet should be immediately be dissolved on the basis of congenital idiocy and criminal negligence leading to the endangerment of lots of lives.



    What if after breaking into a site on the internet, they compromise the intranet and gain access to these machines? Granted the two networks should never be connected in the first place...

    Here is a page of kde2 screenshots. They talk about the html widget having a lot of work done on it. It's dated August 1st, so I think this article is incorrect.

    Cost of living has a lot to do with variations in salary between places. Of course, not putting salaries on the job description... I can't figure out why they're doing that, unless they want to possibly get you for less than what they would have gotten you for if they had given a price.

    For three, all the mainstream press talks about Linux's use in the server arena. Servers don't need to play DVD movies. So, why would the movie industry want to create a player for a server?



    Yes, they do not need to play them, but the ability to read them would be nice. That's a lot of drive space. Static content could be placed on the dvd rather than the hard drive.

    Well, chances are this article does has nothing to do with your every-day user. I tried booting 2.3.x once, and it was a no-go. (scsi driver failed).

    as for redundant.. well, at the time I posted, it wasn't redundant. ;-)

    and.. NO, I don't sit there waiting for first post.. It just happened to be that way when I checked. I saw an article about kernel panics.. and I thought.. "Well, my kernel has _never_ panicked, this is pretty useless!"

    As I was typing, though.. I figured it would be a great help to kernel hackers.

    I tried using the NiMH batteries. I'll have to look into the rechargable alkalines. It's worth the investment!

    I know I saved myself oodles of money on batteries when I bought the NiMH ones for my digi-cam. The thing wouldn't work for more than an hour or so with regular alkalines.. but with the NiMH batteries, they last magnitudes longer.

    Quite a tricky situation. I tried rechargable batteries in my palm pro once, then realized that it really sucked. I looked on the palm homepage.. and found.. that rechargable batteries doe not provide high enough voltage to be highly effective. Regular batteries last much longer.

    What we need is regular-voltage rechargable batteries. :)

    color really is a big help when it comes to things like this. The ability to use colors to set priority works better for some people than seeing a number next to the item.

    Kinda like the MacOS colors you can apply to items. (I forget what they're called)
