Isn't this kind of the same deal with videogames? You have the XBOX and PS2 version of GTA 3 and Vice City, however in order to play the XBOX version you need an XBOX. If I buy music from iTunes, I have to use the iPod. Basically, you are buying Apple's version of the song, so you need to use Apple's player.
I think I am going to sue Rockstar for not making the GTA series compatible between consoles.
Hey man, can you give me a ride to work this morning? my car crashed last night.
-Sorry, I just installed Service Pack Two and now my car won't even start.
I was thinking the same thing, my school has a bunch of 15" and 17" older Apple Displays like that, and I think he removed the paint from the inside or something.
They do make excellent products, but they always hold themselves back with their proprietary formats and media. You either own all Sony toys and everything works, or own one, and have it costs you more, with limited compatibility.
For example, I currently use 512mb SD Digi cards for my Camcorder, Palm Pilot and my brother's MP3 Player. I use 512MB and 4GB (HD) CF Cards for my laptop, and digital Cameras. If I want to get the Sony 5mp DSC-V1 I saw on sale as an open box value for $360 at a local camera store, I now need to get a whole new memory card (I wanted 512mb or more, for a memory stick Pro it would run me $200+). So what did I do? I got the Canon PowerShot S50 at the same store for $399 because it used CF cards.
I always thought they made standards for a reason, Sony doesn't seem to think so.
But I was taking a look at these displays on the Apple Site, and I really didn't like the power brick shown in one of the Quicktime VR links. Since the 20 and 23 inch Displays are more or less the same display as before, couldn't they just have an ADC cable *option*, instead of the new Firewire, USB 2.0, DVI and power cable? ADC is based on DVI, so would it be that hard to make an ADC/Firewire Cable for us Apple users who actually like our ADC interface?
But for some reason, after all my attempts at switching to Windows, I stick with my mac. Windows feels like a file or rasp that I constantly need to clean, I can use it for awhile without paying attention to it, and it will do a good job, but eventually it just become unusable.
On my Mac, it feels like a hammer. I can use it as much as I like, or as little as I like, and it will constantly perform the same tasks without a hitch.
I don't know if that analogy makes any sense to anybody, but Windows seems to require some level of maintenance that my mac does not require. That piece of mind is important to me.

what a real knee slapper that was man.
Mainly for the same reasons as already mentioned, they just stand out too much. Novelty at first, an annoyance later. My Cell Phone has a blue LED backlight for the display, and sometimes at night it is a little hard to read, because it is so bright, it really does kill your night vision. I am a bigger fan of the white LEDs, they look cleaner, and don't hurt your eyes as much. At least for me they don't.

I believe that was Spymac not Think Secret, you are referring to the iWalk right?

I take it they gave up on the AIDS Epidemic.

Why couldn't Apple just hire the makers of Konfabulator, like they did with the makers of SoundJamMP when they wanted to make iTunes?
