Yes but unfortunatly larger than average in this case is still not alot compared to the operating system with by far the biggest desktop install base in the world...
I don't know why the parent was marked a troll because its a valid question.
The fact is for close integration with the operating system (like putting stuff in the tray in windows) is impossible to do with out using API's that break portability.
If you break portability what the point in doing it in java the first place?
My organisation recently got hit badly with a varient of the Korgo virus.
The virus infected Xp machines which in turn spread the virus to other machines.
The main problem was this varient of Korgo (or our own combination of service packs/software) caused windows 2000 machines to reboot insted of becoming infected.
Now lets say if I created a "White Hat" worm that insted of infecting the PCs patched them. How am I to know every variation of software that should be patched?
The worm could end up doing more harm than good. Many worms are tailored for certain operating system with a given service pack and hotfix level.
If they try to attack other variations they can crash these systems.
In my opinion crashing these systems causes more damage than a system being infected silently.
Thats good advice.
Can you call up to the webmaster and tell him?
Just don't let on you use slashdot because there is definatly a few downsides to talking to someone face to face...

Your right though most of their innovation seems to be on the hardware end. You see alot of imacs in places where people want to be noticed. (mobile phone shops spring to mind).
Youve heard of hairdresser's cars, imacs are hair dressers computers..
No these schemes are designed to work with SMTP.
It would be very difficult to replace something as as popular as SMTP. It would at least have to be backwards compatible with SMTP which means it would expose itself to the same problems as SMTP.
IMO SMTP does a good job apart from its obivous faults.
Its a really good idea. But when your dealing with programs like bit torrent with its reputation for illicit downloads you're fighting an uphill battle to get any sort of mainstream interest.
Who knows.
Maybe its 2014 design and the nineties are back in fashion.

because, AFAIK, Akamai is hosting Apple.com.
Nope, Akamai only provide a DNS service. They have nothing to do with the actual delivery of songs.
Thats good advice.

Do we really need another way to hurt people? What is wrong with water cannons?
This is a perfect example of the benifits of open source. Without open source these children would have no network and no software!
As an aside, I remeber seeing a list of countries that declared war on Japan 2 weeks before the war ended. Way to hop on the band wagon
I can see it catching fire though. Whooooosssh!!!
Hydrogen filled Paper Ballons? That sound like a floating fireball to me..
No they were like small tables with a Tv screen underneath the glass top. They had buttons each side so two people could play
