Last time I checked, setting rate for product minimums is a form of price fixing which is illegal. RIAA should be only allowed to charge royalties for distribution and leave it up to the vendor to figure out how much to charge. Market would determine which price is acceptable.
If the cost was too prohibitive for the common man than there might be market to grow and sell the seeds in the third tier market. I wonder how long it would take for RIAA to beat down your door?
I wonder if you're have to pay sales tax everytime you move?
Man could you imagine moving from job to job and shelling out tax after tax after tax; you would be so negative every relocation. From what the law is stating; anything brought into the state is subject to taxes. Why dont these states just setup Customs Border Crossing to leavy taxes during entrance?
If the bus system isn't self sustaining then that is the bussing companie's fault. You shouldn't have to fork over dollars for pork that cant sustain itself. Greyhound has been around for decades and they know how to make money.
Surprisingly the anti-spammers didn't tear Richter to pieces with their bare hands
I wonder if Richter is bigger than they expected or will there be a mysterious freak mishap in San Francisco involving rapidly expanding gases in a container when he start his car? All in all he is funny for going ya know...
I Sun is just dreaming of having a future. Who wants proprietary anyway hardware and OS anyway? So if they sell Linux - I can download it. So they sell hardware - if its not price/performance completive I'm not buying.
I wouldn't be buying SUNW stock today - I would look at RHAT over them. RHAT has a working model; SUNs day has sat.
I wouldn't mind paying 2.50 if you owned the music. No I don't mean download it legally, But that I own the rights to transfer said music to whatever medium I chose. I own that music and I always will until I sell it. In the old days people bought records, tapes, 8 tracks and these degraded over time. Now we have the new fangled CDs (not to mention Audio DVDs) and I have to re-buy the collection - ugh. I would like to start a company that sells rights to music that you purchase; therefore, once you buy the music you can listen, it, transfer whatever legally.
In six years, Intego has made a name for itself in the Internet security and privacy market for Macintosh.
I always wonder where the sources are for the majority of viruses. It is quite ironic that a company selling you a fix happens to find the problem and releases the solution for the low price of 59.95. Yet a goggle and Symantec Security search didn't yield anything about MP3Virus.Gen. Hmmm - it's awfully nice they fixed this virus so fast.
I can buy a Xbox for a 150 bukcs. Ill look at it when it becomes V1.0 Stable but for now Ill play the games faster than an emulator and save myself 151 dollars in time.
Others may not be aware that the Roads in Texas have things called 'road tites'. They're reflective markers glued to the road where white and yellow lines would be. At night they light up very bright from headlight reflection and if you're going the wrong way they reflect red. If you 'wander' in your lane and run of them you'll now it - they have various levels. Small medium and large. As you can guess the small ones are for yellow lane change markers. Medium for right medians and turn lanes. Large will blow your hubcaps off and introduce corrective action behavior preventing you from re-doing the act.
We're confident we can do it in ways that drivers will accept
I like to drive but I they could develop a car to drive for me than I will turn of the reigns without any squabble. But in this article they're making strong strides towards sleepy drivers by shacking the wheel when the drive nodes. Revolutionary yes (with a touch sarcasm) - Yet the driver will immediately unplug this devise when he's sitting at a drive movie theater with his girl friend and this thing goes off; she'll think he's a perv.

If they were serious about saving money why did they invest in Intel? Why not AMD to really make a statement about proprietary lines go with the IBM Power PC.
I figured the beowulf clustering folks would be out and about talking about joining the machines together to make the next supercomputer from spare parts.

You're kind of correct - the statement was taken out of context. What people are tired of is paying a bunch of money for something that is played over and over on the Radio anyway. So much so that you get tired of hearing it and that Artist then becomes associated with one song and is thought of as a one hit wonder in which cannot ever achieve the same greatness.
I don't mind pay 15 bucks for a new full feature movie release but I'm not buying another 1 hit wonder that has only one song that I like for something around 18 bucks and listen to it only once.
No there isn't going to be a recovery until their business model is revised.
malice: a legal term which means the defendant knew his statement was false or recklessly disregarded the truth or falsity of his statement. In general, in most jurisdictions individuals must show only that the defendant was negligent, that he failed to act with due care in the situation.
In this context if SCO says 'we own the license and we are excising our royalties/license agreement', than I see no malice. This may not be a popular opinion but ask any lawyer about proving malice cases and 9/10 times you'll hear that malice is the most difficult to prove.
But you do provide insight that the case may not be based on malice but on some aspect of unfair competitive practices - I don't know the law behind this as well. Can anyone expand upon this?
Some conspiracies think that Spam is an elaborate encryption technique of spies to send encrypted messages.
For example if you send out thousands and thousands of encrypted messages - guess what your busted. I know that you're doing something attention is drawn to you.
Yet if you send out a certain sequence of Spam letters it is much harder to decipher. Some software can even embed text inside images. So I'm sending out pictures of my vacation no big deal. I send out Spam letter one that has the first part of the message, second with the second and so on...
I was beginning to think either I was such a bad author that I should stop or it was too difficult for people to grasp. It could be the first and I imaging an anonymous joker will say so. But I cant believe I didn't get one Point out of this article while people went on tangents about FAT being a poor file system while they were addressing the article about Disk head movement.
Ehh, all is good. I will post it again in the future.
Enough tangents and wishing SCO to simply vanishing - it's going to be around a little while.
The issue at hand in the article and context is SCO will not be battling Red Hat and IBM at the same time. The case against SCO from Red Hat wasn't dismissed but deferred. Red Hat claims damages from SCO in regards to harming the Linux kernel because of the lawsuit and publicity towards suing IBM over the Unix core system.
In context against IBM - that is another story and we'll be seeing that unfold. In my opinion that is going to be a tough case to win for SCO. Remember SCO was a happy go lucky company and then Linux IPO Caldera Systemsbought SCO. I can't see a Linux company coming to power and suing others over the Unix System even though IBM already had a license for the Unix core system.
Now back to Red Hats Case. RH is suing SCO basically over the suite against IBM. I seriously doubt that RH will win this case because the grounds of suing someone because you sued someone. RH is must prove malice in the context of SCO public statements. This is very hard to prove.
The break it down here is what's going to happen. First RH has to wait, IBM will win, RH will lose the Case against SCO, SCO will loose market share from other litigation cases yet to be determined.

Nooo. There is always Distributed or plethora of choices to occupy your CPU time.
For some reason this doesn't give me the urge to buy the product formerly known as Lindows. Anyone else?
FYI - I've recently bought a collection of Roy Orbison; Looking at maybe a little Elvis. I don't mind paying say 4-8 bucks off of eBay if necessary.
I guess have the obligation to address your issue since your asking a perfectly legitimate question.
Start here at VH1 one hit wonders.

because it's the W that is causing all the problems
So the name isn't going to be Winux - because problems with Ws.
