I lived in Indianola Iowa and the city owns the fiber ran next to their totally underground power network. They lease access to Mahaska Communications Group out of Oskaloosa Iowa who then sells Internet access at ridiculously good rates. I paid $50/month for 100/100 with a 10ms ping and NO cap.
Precisely why I have the connection I have. Local municipal laid fiber when they put their power infrastructure underground and licensed it to another local ISP. They charge $50/month (flat $50, no BS fees or anything) for 100/100. Its not gigabit, but more bandwidth than I've found a use for yet.
I wonder what the likely hood of a smaller regional ISP negotiating a contract with them. I currently get 100/100 FTTH for $50/month from a local provider and would love to get some 1080p netflix.
Anyone remember the ATI Rage Fury MAXX? I've still got one in use. It was a monster in its day. Dual Rage 128 Pro GPU's and 64MB of RAM. But for some reason the way that they jury rigged them on one board didn't work properly in XP, so it only uses one. Oh well, still s nifty conversation piece.
Wasn't the real attractiveness of synthehol the fact that you could be drunk as hell and become completely sobre with just a hypospray of sorts? An interesting article here
You haven't got a clue how accurate you are with out being funny. I used to date a girl I would not consider a emo chick. Wow, the things she would do for attention.
I have a relatively mild system, still power hungry, but not overly and it runs on a 250 Watt Sparkle PSU. Has been doing so for about 6 months, I though I needed a huge over the top PSU and I bought one, and it proceeded to take out one of my main HDD's, and it wasn't a bargain basement one either. That 250 watt psu runs a Asus A7V400 MB, 2 200gig SATA HDD's, 2 ATA 133 HDD's, DVD-ROM and DVD-RW, AMD XP 2700+ and a GeForce5200 Ultra, never a burp or complaint. I just don't understand why in the world you would need 500 watts of PSU unless you were running some quad CPU monster or something.
1TB of storage = $2500?
Where have you been shopping?
Here is a 500 gig HITACHI for $341. That brings our price down to:
1TB of storage = $682 your off by about 2 g's buddy.
This is kinda funny. I wonder how many blogs or whatever complain about slashdot. I wonder which one has a bigger impact, the traffic from fuddruckers.com or a slashdotting, hmm mabye by the time of the dupe he will have graphs on his blog and be complaining how much slashdot killed his bandwidth?
How not?
Four players with Ace, 10 in their pocket, and King, Queen, and Jack on the table, thats four royal flushes with a single deck in Texas Hold'em
Naa i'm pretty sure he is talking about the PS2 launch, Sony launched Final Fantasy IX(I believe) the same day as the DC to poke fun at their sales of their new console, kinda sad though, I personally liked the dreamcast and I own one myself and still occasionally play it.

No it was the fucking bugs from Klendathu!
Why so hostile? I had to move and I found an affordable place close enough to where I work that had a municipal fiber network.

I think its more like, don't develop a coke habit.
Or how many 747's full of DVD's?

My apologies, I was either drunk or stoned when I wrote this, and almost completely negated the flush part. Oh well!

No, now all we need is the cereal box from Minoriy Report. Thats progress.
Philips != Microsoft
Been there done that
Your point is valid, but he wouldn't have gotten slashdotted for that.
