Watching All Six Star Wars Movies Simultaneously

DavidSJ writes "WeirdHat created a video of all Star Wars movies being played simultaneously, side-by-side, and then watched it. Some notable finds: the first appearance of Palpatine in The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones is on the same frame. Also, the Jedi Rocks music in Episode VI provides amusing accompaniment to the Anakain/Obi-Wan vs. Dooku fight in Episode III."

The first sign of a good sync is that the Directors name fades in just as the screams break through to the music of the first track. Another sync is when she falls off the fence the music picks up pace instantly and changes to a more sinester tune, and probably the most notable are the two scene changes that sync directly with track changes: the bells chime when the old lady/witch comes on screen on her bike, and the track "Money" starts the cashregister sounds as Dorithy opens the door to the full color land of Oz. Other stuff to look for include the background voices in the songs matching on screen conversations, the drum hits matching when the old lady is arguing with her family over the dog, and the thunder/rain drops in the music as the tornado scene approaches as well as the singer's voice as Dorithy is running around/gets knocked out, and the house gets taken up and away. It does work slightly after repeating, though not nearly as well as the first time around.

There are alot of sites out there with theories and more details of the stuff to look for, most of this I picked out before visiting them as its quite obvious if the sync is good. Some even go into more detail such as the names of songs vs whats on screen, such as "Balanced on the biggest wave" playing while Dorithy is walking on the fence, or that Side1 of the original vinyl was exactly as long as the B/W part of the movie, with side2 picking up in the full color land of oz (also with "money" playing as noted above).

I was thinking about it and came up with what I think is the best order in which to watch them (assuming you watch all of them and not only the 3 good ones ;)

      1) New Hope - This sets up the story of Luke and foreshadows his parents and background introducing the Empire and Jedi and briefly their past struggles as it did originally

      2) Empire Strikes Back - This goes into more detail about Luke and you retain the surprise [well the original surprise] that Vader is Lukes father

      3) Phantom Menace - Try to stay awake through the beginning of a flashback that shows how Anakin became Vader. We've just learned about Luke and Vader so I think it works well to jump back now and find out Anakin's history

      4) Attack of the Clones - Continue the flashback of Anakin's fall to the Dark Side. Fast forward to the last 45 minutes if you have any respect for good writing

      5) Revenge of the Sith - Finish the flashback completing the story of Vader leaving the question of what happens to him for the final film to answer

      6) Return of the Jedi - Complete the series on a high note and get the warm fuzzies when you see the dancing Ewoks and Gungans at the end. If you can, watch the original so you don't see that moron Christensen at the end with Obi and Yoda

The only problem with this is that it spoils the original surprise that Luke and Leia are twins. You could watch RotJ before RotS, but I think it's worth it to end with one of the good originals. In addition, we get to see that there is "still good in him" as both Padme and Luke said.

My opinion anyway. Personally I can do without watching Episodes I or II again for a long time.
