  1. gentoo on Unifying Linux Package Management · · Score: 0

hi I use gentoo I love it. but I saw linux and package management in the title of this article and I just wanted to ask all the other gentooers out there to please shut the hell up about portage in this discussion. I can hear the keyboards of thousands of gentoo newbies typing messages right now to say blah blah portage blah blah emerge. but that will just prompt more waiting to compile jokes. please guys I know its a great system. but shut the hell up. you are making everyone hate us. yes it has good package management... maybe the best. but in recent months even I a huge gentoo fan have been annoyed by the gentoo users claiming they have the answer to everyones problems. please... it is not for everybody. shut up.

I keep hearing about how the game cube is dead and there are NO good games... buy an xbox etc.... I am sick of it. there are some great games for gamecube still being released. this is a PRIME (/me ducks) example. PSOIII is also a good example IMHO. these games really are breaking ground if you ask me. yes this particular game may be similar to prime1 but I don't see anyone else in the industry making games like these. besides. any system that you can play Ikaruga on is not dead!

  12. GREAT... more M.S. B.S. on Microsoft To Share Office Source Code · · Score: 0

what a bunch of crap. The governments won't spend the money to hire people good enough to find all that is wrong with this code... not only that, but the majority of security flaws aren't gonna be found in a office suite... they will be found in the OS/server/browser software. So when all is said and done on this deal MS will just have more "evidence" that their software is safe. Those bastards make me sick.

MICROSOFT: if you want your softare to be more secure why don't you let US take a look at the code. fine keep the license... but if you had good code you shouldn't mind us taking a peek... or would we find too many dangerous flaws?

  13. NEXT year's show on Disney Launches Fireworks With Compressed Air · · Score: 1, Funny

Insiders report that an even MORE amazing technology is in the works for next year:

Disney scientists have completely solved the nasty safety and environmental issues caused by using actual fire. Next year all fire will be replaced by those flappy cloth things they sell at the mall with colored lights under them.

to prevent The obvious noise problems the devices will simply be thrown into the air by the technician in a juggling fashion. To preserve the traditional level of entertainment the technician will whisper "boom" each time he throws a device.

I hope this exciting new technology becomes more common in the next few years.

anyway the nice thing about linux now is that we can set it up how we like. If you like to call /usr/bin something like /fart/knocker for example, I am sure it could be done. I can see where naming the directory structure more descriptively would make it easier for n00bs, however, I am no longer a n00b and it would drive me nuts to try to learn new directory names. I am sure that lots of people like me will resist this change and we will have yet another choice to make when installing linux. Fine... fragment off... name stuff however you want... WHO CARES ABOUT STANDARDS.... I mean this philosophy has worked fine for microsoft.

Yes choice is nice... but please be careful people, the last thing we need is another rediculous naming convention out there.
