1.7 - How secure is Wish's funding? Will it definitely release?
The Wish project is heavily funded by a private investor group, which allows the product to be complete before launching. We will not rush out an incomplete title.
Is it possible that this "Private Investor Group" killed it's funding causing it to go under? It was looking good for the ten minutes of time I got to test it.
It's the style of this game guys... Micromanagement wasn't in "Dungeon Keeper" or "Dungeon Keeper 2". It's nice to see a game following somewhat in these footsteps although it needs a little patchwork on the AI.
Purchased this game on the day of it's release after playing the demo for two weeks.
What do the societies afraid of? Mind Control from an alternate universe? This has been said multiple times (Too many in my opinion) but it still needs to be said. "Video Games Do NOT cause these problems."
Everyone before me has said that it's is the parent's decision to choose whether or not it should be in the possession of thier child. I am not of legal age, but I know that I should not blame a Video Game for my screwed up life. What screwes it up is high-school and Junior High...
I play a game like True Crimes, or GTA and I would occasionally think like, "Ooooh nice bike... I wonder..." but I never do it because I know what would happen if I did (one of them is having it crush one of my legs, I'm aswesome in games with motorcycles but I have no REAL experience with them).
It's like some of the story in Metal Gear Solid 2. The idea of a giant walking machine to filter out internet data to "spur" the evolution of the human race. Why should information be filtered? I have a need to know an NO ONE should make it impossible for me to find out.
They don't have to buy the product then. They don't have to say anything then. They can continue developing thier stuff on the Freespace 2 engine. It's not that hard.
I am a proud owner of two titles of the Battlecruiser series. I have owned BCMG for a over a year and Universal Combat for about 3 months now. I personally don't understand the gripes and complaints that people have against him.
His games are great, and I am definatly glad that SOMEONE MADE THEM. The space-sim genre is so dead that if anyone were to make something ELSE then it would (sorry... "Should") be welcomed.
Did you guys read the thread on Avault? After his query to the public, the large community HTL started flaming him on thier forums and even started a mass flame on Darek for not posting on HTL forums.
A member of HTL said: "Please ask us at HLP, that is where you should of posted..."
Is it fair to decide where Darek should post or not? No, and it seems that with that statement that that lost HTL's "rights" to have any say in it. They were given a chance and they just bit his ass for it.
Can we even trust a community with rights to Freespace that doesn't even respect thier own members? Bad Language and general mean things are said, how are they supposed to get something out with a community like that.
The way I see it, is that no one is willing to give him a chance. True the Battlecruiser series only appeals to a certain group, but it's not fair to say "If it's touched by Darek Smart, I'm not buying it."
As far as the other smaller group goes... Ferrulium wasn't it? The person on that side had started that one. He was unprofessional and even attempted to gain favor by showing off an page that wasn't completed.
Guys, people like HTL and the others are only Modification users. HTL has threatened to attempt to buy the rights before DS does. Can HTL actually get a product that is any good on shelves? They may get enough to actually buy it, but they won't have any money left to actually develop something. They would have to write engines, and code on small bits of cash. Then publishing is a problem.
I've watched large companies everywhere. Microsoft, Viacom, DishNetwork/EchoStar, GAIN, and even Atari.
They never seem to give an answer that is the "Truth". I have tried to get more info from both Viacom and Echostar, but I keep getting pushed aside like some little baby. What's the point of giving your customers buisiness if you don't treat them right?
Honestly, what I hate is that I CAN NOT seem to get a truthful story from either Viacom OR DishNetwork. I do admit, losing 6% of the programming and only getting 1$ credit is crummy, but still, if people all go to DTV over this, then DTV might end up with the same problem.
I did a bit of math and according to Viacom's report of and extra $.06 per customer, that is 560,000 dollars that DN has to hand over, and that's a lot of money up front, and that's per-month!
They already raised prices, but do we really want them to raise it again because of a.06 increase in Viacom's cost?

He's an icon... that's just about it. People don't really ever hear the name of the other composers.

Because he wants the name and the whole story of it finished. He likes the franchise, and wanted it finished.

Do keep in mind through, Viacom is still trying to make Echostar/Dish sound like it's the evil one in this case.
I suggest we read the statements on both sides.
That's exactly my thoughts! If the economy/money chain worked, Viacom would pay DN! Anyone know why this is bass backwords?
