Those studies will probably not be completed in either of our lifetimes. The problem is the pesticide residue may be low enough to avoid acute symptoms with immediate results. However studying how a lifelong exposure to a whole slew of chemicals is going to affect overall health or lifespan is going to take many generations. I like to error on the safe side. If it is not a nutrient, then it doesn't go in my body.

It's confirmation bias. Geeks are not exactly known for their healthy livestyle, and we like hearing versions that confirm others to be wrong.

Exactly. I run into the same thing when I tell people that secondhand smoke can cause cardiovascular problems and they don't want to hear it because they've been exposed to secondhand smoke their entire lives.

The truth is even if Organic food just had less pesticide residue and less antibiotic resistant bacteria, then I would still tend to eat it over non-organic.

Actually, speed is rarely a factor in the cause of an accident. Most studies put it at below 15%. In fact Florida said it was 2.2%. http://www.motorists.org/speed-limits/faq

So really the insurance companies are just managing how many accidents are going to cause damage that's over the deductible.

The OP is NOT a troll. There ARE actual problems with AGW as a theory or at least to the extent it has an effect. True scientists not only WELCOME debate but they ENCOURAGE it. Science is not about being right or wrong. Science is about discovery and understanding the world. Most often theories need to be expounded upon and details need more exploring to fully understand something as complex as the weather systems of the entire Earth. Furthermore many people actully fully grasp that climate change is happening and that over the average it is tending towards warming. The disagreement is on how much people affect that AND on what does that mean next. It is when policy is rammed through under the guize of BIG GOVERNMENT that people take a step back and first ask science if it has actually proven that the policy is needed. Many many models of climate change have been absurdely wrong but we don't talk about those? Why? Because they make people look silly? That's a little childish in itself. We should look at the failed climate models and see WHY they were wrong. THIS should be what is in the public eye.

First off the widely reported story is that the NGI will use public surveillance video and photos. The part about including DNA records from private practices is unsubstantiated. Now I for one do not have a problem with them using public surveillance or Driver's License ID's. If you go out in Public, you consent to being watched by the same public and by extension, the Government. It is completely acceptable and good for them to use this legally obtained data in an automated recongnition system. Yes there needs to be checks and balances but the problem doesn lie in the source of the images.
