To do the research behind GM seed/food is actually a great thing; they've proven to be safe, often more nutritious, and grow with less pesticides and run-off into the ecosystem. In short, GM foods are great.
...Then a bunch of morons run into the fray saying "SEE! I told you GM foods are bad for you! I'm going FULLY organic!" which basically serves no purpose than to empty your wallet faster.
Ok, so you just said that a benefit of GM crops is using LESS pesticides but then you called Organic crops which use NO Pesticides to be useless? You can't have it both ways buddy. Either Pesticides are bad for your health and should be avoided or they are completely safe and keep on spraying. So which is it? Please explain.
You have no idea how many times I talk to women (all people really, men and women) and half way through my explanation they go "I'm not technical and I have no idea what you are talking about" when I wasn't even using any real difficult terminology. Its like people turn off their brains when they don't immediately grasp something. So the problem we should be looking at is why this is true for women more then men. Is it cultural? Is it something to do with how our brains process technical and logical information? I don't know.
To quote you: "I stopped reading right there." You provided no facts or arguments to support your dismissal of verified, objective scientific data.
If not a troll, you definite display troll-like tendencies.
Facts have to come from reputable sources. Too many in Academia have already proven that they will lie and smear their opponents name in the mud just to prove a point.
I like that you made this huge claim that the majority of scientists are supporting the idea of Carbon Dioxide being the problem and yet you don't provide any facts. Secondly, I think you are confusing SCIENCE with SCIENTISTS with the latter being fallible human beings and not relevant to the discussion at all. Provide facts please. The links you posted are just as bad.
While you are off being cute, the religion of Anthropogenic Global Warming is causing real harm in the world. We used to care about real pollution like particulate matter and ozone. Now this false religion is attacking Carbon Dioxide as the problem when it is hardly a problem at all. Global Warming may be happening but two things are still out in debate:
1) What is causing that
2) Is that a bad thing?
All this infighting about local or federal control or teaching to the test or teaching hands on is missing the point. The problem of education is a cultural one. We spend more money per student then any other country but we don't have the highest of anything expect number of Teachers we pump out. Make education important and attractive and win the culture war and you will start seeing better educated people start coming out the far end of the education system in a few years.
And this hurts who? Believing in Creation does not affect your ability to do anything with science or to understand a single concept that actually applies to the physical world. Seriously, just drop it.
I agree the article is a waste of bandwidth. Sadly there is no way to vote the article down and out of the spotlight at this point. If people want to avoid rising rents then they have a simple option; purchase. By a house or a flat or a condo or whatever. Buy it and do not rent and you get to pay pretty much the same month to month regardless of the rise in rents. Sure, other things may go up in cost but your biggest bill every month will be the same. Can't afford it? Maybe you shouldn't live in this state to begin with because in general the housing market could deal with a nice 20-30% drop in addition to the hit it has already taken and still be overpriced.
Don't worry, there is a politician somewhere who holds that goal and will do anything to achieve it. That is, to make everyone just as poor as everyone else.
Typically when you have MAJOR problems in Beta you weigh that and delay the release if needed. Apple however has too much HUBRIS to do this. Trend Micro did this recently as well. The Beta for Worry-Free Business (Their Enterprise AV solution) was horrible on performance. They released it anyways on schedule. Most customers jumped ship.
This is a pretty big bug to just find now. I mean they only have one hardware to they have to test it on. Oh, and it supposedly affected other devices they rolled it out to as well.
Once again, you obviously don't work in IT. You are buying the hype. You use one data point and call it a graph. I work with hundreds of Apple peices of hardware and I can tell you that they fail in hardware all the time and are a lot of times harder to fix if not impossible.
O'RLY? Ok well when you can get a robot to figure out just what it is that the end user wants when the end user doesn't even know what they want, get back to me. In addition when a robot can understand and parse 20 different vertical specific application on 4 major operating systems and 6 different server operating systems across diverse geographical environments then also get back to me. Yeah, like I said before, my job is very secure.
Yeah. I mean I work in IT and I can tell you that a machine will never replace my job because in the end most of the problems I fix are because a human designed the software or hardware incorrectly or because a human cannot figure out how to use or be trusted with software or hardware. My job is secure until robots design the software and hardware themselves.
Judging by the vast majority of comments on here blaming the Tea party for this crisis, remind me not to ask Slashdot anything related to stocks, finances, running a business or even which bank to use. The users on this website have all fallen into the trap of group think and swallowed the Keynesian Economic model hook, line and sinker. Just wait till you realize your mistake and end up top deck flopping around like a freshly caught fish.
Only on Slashdot would this AC get modded up. Only on Slashdot. Barack Obama was the one playing games. The House of Representatives passed a perfectly fine plan. It was the DEMOCRAT controlled Senate that didn't even let their plan see a vote.
Since When is pointing out the truth of a situation the same as CAUSING the situation? Talk about shooting the messenger.
Being prepared for war is expensive and dangerous. However the cost of not being prepared is much higher. This was only costs the US marginally more then if we were to just be prepared. Look it up. Also look up the casualties. Compare baseline numbers of both in non-war years to now. Ignore what is considered budget for the war. Just compare the total budgets from year to year. You'll find that the budget problem in the US actually has very little to do with the engagements in the middle east.

Any comment that implies Noam Chomsky is wrong 99% of the time is a comment I can get behind. It is interesting because it is true.

Ya but you get Powershell access so if your campus IT knew their stuff they could just fix 90% of problems without even calling Microsoft.
... Every national science body in the world has concluded that AGW is real.
Officially. Non-officially, there is a TON of debate on the topic. Like at this event. http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamestaylor/2012/05/23/7-protest-hints-for-the-global-warming-alarmists-of-the-world/

Define "Bad". I'm guessing anything which actually applies to real life skills and understanding of History is actually bad.
And this hurts who? Believing in Creation does not affect your ability to do anything with science or to understand a single concept that actually applies to the physical world. Seriously, just drop it.

I think you've been watching too many Shia LaBeouf movies.

So Handicapped people go through the effort to get handicap placards so they can NOT use them. Your logic is lacking.

Don't get too far ahead of yourself. There is still a lot of work to do. Robots don't make everything yet.
