if i take a photo, put a CC license on it , but someother party take a screenshot of it and passes it off as owned by them, is there any effective way to prove i took the photo. Yes i could upload to say flickr and that would prove i had the photo at a particular date, but it doesnt really prove i took the photo. What in your opionion is the best way to protect your work. I give all my public photo's a CC license anyway but i would'nt want someone else passing them off as theres.

  14. Re:This is completely insane on Dutch Teen Arrested for Virtual Property Theft · · Score: 1

the people who say it's not theft because it can be instantly restored to te rightful owner at no cost.Imagine i steal a bottle of whiskey from a supermarket but they catch me outside and recover the stolen bottle, would i not be arrsted and charge for theft, of course i would. To an extent the value of the item stolen doesnt come into account, stealing a mars bar can just be as serious as stealing a laptop. Also you mention that the guy is a lunatic for spending moey on a chair, which is virtual, but if that chair has a real monatary value then it is as real as me buying a gold futures contract, i never see that gold , it's never in my physical possesion, but it does have value. At the end of the day what is owning property , it's not bricks and mortar, it's really a deed a piece of paper which gives you certain owndership rights over that physical thing.

I inherited a Network of mainly Windows Machines, 2000 Server, 2000 Pro desktops. From my experience the main problem has always been with the Windows Desktops rather than the servers. The only Server software that annoys the hell out of me is Exchange, but our 2000 servers are always up. MS SQL has never been an issue In reality if we experience a prolonged power cut which we have on 2 occasions the only machine i need to worry about is a Vendors Sun Netra which we dont have direct access to , the Windows machines have never been a problem
