I think that a kind of fractal volume for the CPU (which will maximize the surface between the cooling fluid and the heating parts of the CPU) could be pretty cool (no pun intended!), but quite hard to manufacture.
If I remember well, the Wii is such a platform. And I don't see why it wouldn't be legal: if you want to have a devkit, you have to comply with *a lot* of conditions
Chrome beats other browsers by 4% in sound card usage. Seriously, I don't think the "raw" laptop battery life means something else that what it means...
What would be somehow an interesting test is to measure the number of cycles/instructions a browser needs to: * load a page. * render a page. * animate a page during 1 minutes. Of course, with parallelism, it surely isn't as simple as that, but at least it would give an hint about the efficiency of your browser. Maybe someone can come with a more interesting test?
You can have an EEEPC for 99 euros + a USB key which allows to connect to the Internet using a 3G+ connection, which for a 2 years subscription costs you 30 euros/per month. Do the maths:) !
If I am right, GNASH is a GNU Flash player under GPL, whose base is gameswf, which was originally created for the interface of a game on XBOX.
I mainly know gameswf for having worked with it, it is nice and very promising, but lacked some important functions and need (in my opinion) a code redesign.
> I'll install what I like. Now gimme some candy, Mozilla! ok so you agree that you can't install Firefox because Firefox for Symbian doesn't exist?
> Aside: Nokia's "Web" browser is pretty much the best mobile browser I've ever used. Stop kidding!! Opera is quite good (and of course far better than the symbian browser), but there are still some problems! Where can I change the user agent? How can I get ride of the few bugs which are poising my browsing experience? Why is it so slow? Why *each time* I am using the HTTP identification mechanism on an unencrypted transaction (which can be dangerous, I agree), I have a dialog box? (I mean, I can disable all the security alerts or enable all of them... why can't I disable a particular one?)
And yes I use this stupid browser *every day*, so I think I am aware of some of its limits.
I am glad that Firefox is availaible on the Windows & linux phone, but why nothing is (seems?) to be done regarding the Symbian OS? (wikipedia says that it is "the leading OS in the 'smart mobile device' market. Statistics published February 2007 showed that Symbian OS had a 67% share of the 'smart mobile device' market,"
Does someone have some information about the "why?" (I know you can tell me that if I am willing, I can start developping it myself, but actually I have to much projects to cope with...)
And another question: I own a Nokia E-61. If Firefox is not planed for Symbian OS, I am willing to install Linux Mobile on it. Can someone give me a pointer to what I should do to do this?
Maybe OSS should actually be pushing for Silvelight to win, as you can at least create Silverlight content in notepad for free, and aren't forced to buy a massive Adobe illustration package just to put a few pretty buttons or videos on your site.
Never heard about Ming, haven't you?
Ok there is no fancy GUI but you can create some SWF contents with your notepad...
Look to the examples here. I found a page with a lot of very nice examples, but I can't remember where...
To mark the occasion, Roscheisen said the first commercial panels will get special treatment: the first that came off the rolls will become part of a Nanosolar exhibit; the second will be auctioned off on eBay
I think you have a good point - this way, Microsoft can have the full control over the hardware, and thus have a full control over the drivers, like... Apple. It was a reason I often heard when talking about Mac stability.
The problem is that it will be disastrous for the hardware industry, and a lot of Microsoft current customers (the one who are paying in order to have driver certifications) won't be happy... I don't think also that Dell and others would let the things do without a fight in some way.
That's why I don't know if it will happen soon: Microsoft would lose to much doing so.
Yes, and maybe we are alone because... that's what they want.
Currently, our cultures and our societies are typically humans, and if one day a "superior" civilization, coming from another star, goes on Earth, what would happen?
We will try to mimic them. Currently, our research and development are going into all the directions, because we don't know where to search. If a lab can look at what an UFO looks like, what do you think they will try to do? To copy it. Or to ask for the ETs to answer the questions we are wondering since age. Our imagination and our soul will vanish - we will loose our specificities.
If I were them, I would look to the humans without trying to disturb them, in order to fully understand them, and make them proud of their discoveries - else, I could find a depressive society, with no goal.
The day we will reach a certain level (traveling to another star?) maybe they will knock to our door... or keep watching and studying us
I know we are far from this, but I dream of the days where we (humains) will be able to build "cells" which can use the light energy to transform the CO2 to O2 in a similar way of what are doing plants, but with a huge yield!
Each time I see breakthroughs like this one (the better we understand, the better we can copy) and those dealing with solar cells, I think about that!
Looks more like a kind of Benny Hill' video to me...
Thanks for your comment, I wasn t aware that it is possible to disable this "feature"!!! (and never thought it would be possible this way!)

good idea... But what should we publish? Shouldn't it be in Persian?
we don't have a single example of a start with a billion planets
Just change the definition of the word "planet", and you're done!

... to discover that?
10/22 = 10 2 2 ... Maybe a subliminal message?
substract 1 to each number: 9 1 1
yeah... should stop working and go back home.
When will the petarolls barrier be broken? I can't wait!
... 2012 will be the year of the in-game web-based IDE...
At least, its argumentation doesn't evolve.
if we could use a photon emitted from NEGATIVE MASS
You're speaking about dark light, aren't you?
... at least in France:
:) !

just fork it!

And here is the link!
Maybe the beginning of a new /. meme... congratulations!

Maybe we can transform it into diamond or into diamond powder (very useful)?

I don't say that it has happened like this, but organic compounds can be created from "basic" elements, see the Urey Miller experiment ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miller-Urey_experimen t ).
