I really don't understand. Microsoft created a product. They're under no obligation to release any information about that product to anyone. This is the equivilent of Joe Blow's newfangled Linux distro being released and Joe Blow being sued because he's not providing free tech support.
If you don't like it, DON'T USE IT! Nobody is forcing you to use a Microsoft operating system. Yes, they've got some nasty business practices.
Freedom of choice: Does it mean nothing anymore?
I agree. Wasn't slashdot all about NOT erasing user's comments or stories? TRUE freedom of speech and all that? I DO note that there is no way to remove or edit a comment I made...
And here I thought users wanted an operating system that was fast and didn't crash... Doesn't using linux under windows defeat the security and stability of linux?
...but rather in the trip. For many people, modifying their car is a chance to show off their mechanical skills. I relate these people to those who can take a crappy computer and make it run like a scalded cat.
Then, of course, there's those people who just want a faster, more stable ride. These are the people who buy a new Alienware system for the latest games.
And then there's the ricers. These are the people with the large spoiler on a(normally Honda) front-wheel drive car. These people are kinda like a person that would buy a Lian Li and put a P2-300 in it, and then claim that it could best the Earth Simulator.
Oh, and... For reference... Yes, at one time, I had a Celery 300A (OC'd to something or another) running in my Cooler Master ATC-710.
Almost forgot... There's also the hot-rod guys, who would be perfectly happy building their computer from a lump of silicon:)
At the local lab on campus we have SuSE (I think it's 9.0) running on a 64-bit machine. It was really odd seeing an actual linux box, as I'm used to download-and-burn.
Of course, we're running it off an ASUS mobo. I've had nothing but issues with ECS, PCChips, and such in the past... Maybe that could be a part of it.
Well, I can't tell you if it's the RIGHT way or not, but my friends and I have always pronounced it "Suzy". (Of course, we're not German...)
I doubt it really matters, so long as the person you're talking to gets the point... Maybe soon we'll have a.ogg file of the head SuSE honcho telling us how to pronounce it simular to the way everyone learned how to pronounce "Linux"...
Even your Beetle still has to have a working distributor, coil and alternator to push start with a dead battery.
Actually, it's a generator, not an alternator, that was used in most of the old bugs.
A brushed-Alum iPod? I'm not against the gleaming white, but I am a HUGE fan of the brushed-aluminum look.
"...instead of giving consumers the option of paying..."
While I applaud their efforts, I also question their motives. Less options != good thing.

I figured the gimp website would have a better than average bandwidth... I'm supprised.

**chuckles**
I must be new to the scene... Never seen Linux pluralized before.
I agree that their move was a smart one. And honestly, if ANYONE had to buy out SuSE, I'd rather it be Novell or Sun.
