    Well, if you have a near-monopoly on broadband you can persecute filesharers so that you are left with the customers who pay just as much per month as the filesharers, but who use very little bandwidth. You might _never_ need to upgrade your infrastrucure.

    The next stage should be to lower the resolution and bit depth of images that can still be classed as child porn. With luck, we should be able to find these sequences of bytes 'embedded' in software and video streams all over the place and this will provide lots and lots of money for the legal profession.

    The lack of advertising would be appreciated more if the BBC stopped their advertising and trailing of other BBC products in between programmes. It just gives the impression that they are struggling to fill the airtime. I want to be informed and educated, not told what is coming up on other channels, I can find out that for myself.

    I doubt that there are many A and B roads in london which have no houses alongside them. Is it just NIMBYism that you value the children living in those houses less than in the smaller streets?

    Ok. Seen the ads. How long before a new round of ads pointing out that a 10mph collision is even safer and the speed limit should come down from 20mph?
    Also, you state that drivers don't spend much time driving through built-up areas in the UK. Have you never left your yurt on the moors? Try visiting a town, or travelling by car. Look at a road map, even. Or just wait a couple of years and your moor will be paved over and built on.

    This is obviously a non-problem as the persons traveling a couple of mph above the speed limit are in VAST DANGER OMFG THINK OF THE CHILDREN and will certainly die within moments. You didn't think that speed limits were pulled out of someones ass to create revenue and 'work' for the police, did you?

    Ah, having never been up a mountain my mental image is of a very large pyramid/cone with snow on the top. I assumed that it would be a continuous uphill slope. Point taken about dragging dead weight through snow on the level, let alone uphill.

    I take it there are also good reasons why my brilliant idea of hang-gliding down the mountain to reduce oxygen/food requirements is not commonplace :-)

    Regarding point 2, I must confess to no sympathy with the 'medium physical efforts at that altitude leave you breathless' as my extreme lack of fitness leaves me breathless when typing an ellipsis.

    I am skipping this blip in the upgrade cycle and will buy the completed product, thanks. I am currently awaiting Windows 12, which I hear will be super awesome cool, with a whole new filesystem and icons and stuff. Maybe even the fabled 2-player Solitaire. Till then I see no reason to change from 3.11 WfW (especially since the newer windows have less graceful file copy error handling).
