    When he loses, or if he wins, the downslide in the stock price will probably start off a class action lawsuit - more lawyers getting rich.

    The silver lining - McBride gets sued and maybe there's an SEC investigation.

    Unreasonable deadlines

    If you thought that the deadline was unreasonable then you were not "XYXC" people

    Had to deliver vaporware

    Were told that if you didn't deliver vaporware, you weren't "XYZC" people

    If you told managers the truth, you were told you had a bad attitude.

    "Chuck" wanted you to tell HIM the truth.

    direct managers took you aside and told you that you were to tell them the problems NOT Mr. Calahan (Chuck).

    They were a bunch of FUCKERS!

    They treated programmers like shit because they could get new ones from the local TECH school for dirt cheap!

    CEO fucked stockholders and burried fucking in balance sheet.

    Sad fact - CEO DIDN'T do anything illegal! Beleive it or not - our system is fucked.

    How I know above - SEC investigated and found nothing wrong.

    I'm stopping now because I"m boring myself....

    I think it's worse for us Americans because everyone is trying to sell us something!
    I once took a class from an Asian Chi Gong master. During his lesson he said that he had videos on sale. All of us just groaned under our breath. To make a long story short, he was sincere and wanted us to buy the videos to remember his lessons. Nothing else! He was the exception.

    I'm still jaded and I haven't been wrong since. We're continually being bombarded to spend our precious income on shit in America. Companies are demanding that we buy their crap in order for us to be happy and to keep "our" economy working. My friends, who really care about me (I think), say supportive things, I just think they want something! I thought it was just me, but I'm beginning to think that it's a side-effect of living in America. Watch out, anyone who says nice things to you wants to sell you something!

    Makes me want to shave the rest of my hair off, move to Thailand, and become a Buddhist Monk!

    Micrsoft requires IE to do an update. At least I haven't found a way around it. Yeah, Yeah, I know, get off of Windows. I wish, but I can't. (Short version why: my graduate program requires all MS) :-(

    Let me qualify my statement - I wrote it in 1997. And yeah, you got me, there was a component that linked items to one another. But, it should only happen at the time of purchase. When I wrote (parts of) it, it would only cross market at the time of purchase.

    My memory isn't what it was! I remmber the time when I invaded Canada all by myself ...

    There's a limit to how much info they keep about their customers. Retailers are notoriously cheap. Most retailers will not buy the machines necessary to be a mini big brother. They just keep track of total sales dollars and any "points" you may rack up. They could care less what you bought. They're more interested in you being a "good" customer.

    There is no evidence of any human connection to global warming.
    Mr. President,
    So we should sit around and do nothing until there's proof of causation? Then, again, it'll be too late. While by reducing CO2 and other polutants, we'll make the environment better: less polution, less repiratory illnesses, cleaner air, etc, etc, etc... So, so what if there's no link - we'll still benefit.

    Unfortunately, a disaster has to occur for the majority of people to take notice. For example, until the environmental issues start to cause disasters, like sea levels rising and flooding NY City, nobody will really take the threat seriously. Yes, there are some S. Pacific islands starting to feel the effects, but until it becomes worse, very few people will care. By then, I'm afraid, it'll be too late. :(

    They have built a brand name. Every satelite (SP - fuck it!) owner I know, compares their disk storage to TIVO. They have a brand. They are the market leaders. Maybe they'll lose it, but now they're the Cadillac in terms of programming disk storage.
    For you youger people: Cadillac is a luxury car that old people think is the best in the world. Like Mercedes, only American made (whatever that means these days) and not as reliable.
