"the computer can point at things better than I can."
I've found one of the most frustrating thing about computer AI opponents in multiplayer is that they know where you are on the map at all times (esp with say bots in CS) they should program the bots to not be able to see you unless they have a line of sight and are looking in your direction...
They already do this type of function in video cards with Z buffering, if there is a box in the level, nothing is drawn by the video card that is "behind" the box, they should do the same with AI, unless you are visable within the bot's 90 degree FOV and are in the LOS then they can't see you...
Or how about opening a new window instead of a pop up?
Either way Firefox will still allow me to see missed popup windows, but then again it is my choice, not what someone has decided I have to deal with...
"whereas ordinary pop-up windows will open in a new foreground tab. "
Hmm, how about ordinary pop up windows not opening AT ALL!?!?
I have just started using Firefox and I love how most pop-ups are blocked, and the ones that do happen to pop thru open in a new Background window so they are easily killed...
from TFA: "We are working on balancing the default behavior for whether a window opened from script opens.."
How about let me choose what behavior I want from my browser instead of making all of these "defaults" which I will end up changing anyway because they are usually the less intuitive choice. sheesh.. i'll just stick with Firefox.
Side note, since changing to Firefox, my 4 home systems which my family uses (that used to fill up with spyware weekly) have been running spyware free now for 2 weeks. Thanks Mozilla...
" sweating freshwater to irrigate plants and chilling their roots, promoting faster crop cycles."
Sweating refers to the process of condensation on cold metal when exposed to warm air, and from all of the other points int he article the cold water was to be coming from the sea, thus not good for plants (salt).
This should offer the functionality you were talking about (if you add your son's login to the security settings for the Worms 2 folder (recursively) and modify his permissions for full control).
"This works for XP Home, but requires either my presence or telling my son the password. I want this specific app given permission so I don't always have to be there."
Which is why compatibility mode "might" be the fix you are looking for... of course what you are really asking for is a native ability in the Pro version, which is more of "What do I need" question to consider when choosing your OS (home being the cheapie somewhat stripped down version of XP).
" In XP Home, is there a way to configure an individual program to run with administrator priviledges?"
Try holding the Shift key down and then right clicking on the.exe file, it should give you the option to "Run as.." and then you can enter the root login information.
Not sure if this is Pro only, try it out (I have never used home for my "home" computers).
Alternatively I know you can right click on the.exe file and click to compatibility tab and then set it to run in windows 95 or 98 compatibility mode, this should disable the need for XP to run the program as administrator (which I believe is the default for login's with limited access.)
"Specifically, Windows makes it very easy for routine users to install new features....to install software with the full authority of the machine's owner without really getting their consent."
Actually Windows doesn't make it easy, the person who is installing Windows or administering a Windows network makes it easy...
Meaning, I can setup a linux box whose user has full root priveledges, should I? no, neither should you with Windows.
actually TFA says: "Irrigation: Pipes carrying cold water run beneath fields of crops, sweating freshwater to irrigate plants and chilling their roots, promoting faster crop cycles."
So this is not talking about using already collected fresh water for irrigation.
Also in TFA:
""John Craven is a visionary," says Sylvia Earle,....Craven is not always right, but he's always worth listening to."
I think this specific idea borders on, if not crosses the line of "is not always right".
"I like how he irrigates the farms. The sweating of the pipes below ground is a great idea. It seems much more efficient than spraying water everywhere, and having a lot of it evaporate."
"Irrigation: Pipes carrying cold water run beneath fields of crops, sweating freshwater to irrigate plants and chilling their roots, promoting faster crop cycles."
But this doesn't quite make sense to me, the whole reason the pipes sweat is because the water in the air is being condensed onto the cold pipe, if the pipe is under ground then there wouldn't be sufficient air to produce the moisture and any air that is condensed would rob plants of air their roots need to breathe....
I also got one around that timeframe (the BFG model) but had artifacts when unlocking the pipelines, still even without the extra pipes it is a great card.
In fact I just bought a second card (got it for 200 on sale) and am excited to try unlocking this one since all of the original chips from first productions should have been used up by now;)
This is actually one of the best found "upgrades" for video cards in recent past.
In order to enable the extra pipelines all you have to do is modify the Registry (in Windows) and if all of the pipelines are functional then it "just works". The great side to this is that if there are any problems witht he pipelines then you can just revert back to the original settings.
Previous mods like changing the Radeon 9800 pro into a 9800 XT required flashing the card with a different firmware to unlock the disabled features, or worse (like the old geforce4 to quatro mod) required soldering contact points on the card.
The first few batches of this card were pretty hit and miss ( and usually 75% miss) but as Nvidia refined their chipset manufacturing process more of these cards are actually using high quality chips that have fully functioning pipelines that have just been disabled to sell at the lower price point, so your chances of getting this "free upgrade" are pretty good (esp with certain models).
There is even a free tool http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163 that gives a GUI interface that shows all of the pipelines, their status, and allows you to change them on the fly (you can change the settings back and forth but a reboot is required to take effect).
"People are ordered to deliver things that can be used against them all the time, hence search warrants and supenaes"
Actually I don't think this is correct, the warrant allows the officers of the court to search an area defined in the warrant, it does not force anyone to assist the officers.
E.G. if they are searching your house for a dead body or drugs you do not have to tell them where it is located just because the have a warrant for search.
There was a similar situation that someone I knew experienced.
The officers had a warrant to search his car, they opened the trunk and found a box with a lock on it, they had to get another search warrant for the box and when they did promptly chopped the padlock off the box to open it, the suspect did not have to supply a key even though they had a warrant.
Subpoenas are different as they are issued as an order for an appearance before a court, but even if you are subpoenaed, you do not have to give information that can incriminate yourself.

Building a mobile unit that could sustain enough power output to burn a hole in 16 inches of Tank armor would be analogous to the pencil and pen story of NASA... just use a bazooka.
So now the game I paid 50 dollars for will have it's story explained and actually make sense, now all I have to do is fork out another 40 bucks to get it!!!

Do you mean re-vamped episode 5? I thought ROTS is ep3 and the death star isnt even completed till ep4?
So after seeing ROTS this weekend, I was wondering.. how does Darth Vader know that Luke is his son?
As far as he knew Padame died because of him and noone knew she had twins until she gave birth...
Was this explained in the 4-6 episodes? I don't remember that being explained......
