I've got old PentiumMMX with 32MB RAM, running original BT client in my basement, its well protected (B.I.S.S. blocklist loaded into PF), and operated via ssh.
Would Azureus run on it? What about working without GUI?
Here in Poland, the only legal M$ software is in business or preinstalled. People who buy hardware with preinstalled soft are usualy technicaly illiterate. If for some reason update procedure becomes more complicated they'll simply abandon it. So I think its good idea to make procedure complicated:) I work as helpdesk/(repair that crap):)

It won't mess players? Good!
I'll use mplayer to extract mpeg2 and ac3 stream, and then prepare copy.
Will it make us one step closer to The Universal Translator (as seen in Star Trek series?).
Usualy it takes one (or group of) geek, to modify device, and upload first copy to seeds.

Now, when they are out of bussines, they wouldn't mind "leaking" source code into public. (pref. with BSD licence :) )
