    For short term pain, endorphins play a major role, as does the perception of how much you expect something to hurt. For example, most piercings don't really hurt (until well afterwards), but most people believe that they do and so "feel" pain. However, having had to cope with severe chronic pain lasting 7 years.

    When playing in the mud endorphins play a major role. When hit by a car it's adrenaline. With chronic pain none of these helps.

    Look, fighting is hard work. Anyone who says it's not is lying. Also size and weight matter no matter what people tell you. If you are going up against someone 100lbs heavier than you with an equivalent skill level you will probably lose.

    I agree, but the key here is equivalent skill. You have maybe been practicing for 5 years or so, while Hatsumi have trained for 70 years.

    He learned something new yesterday, learns something new today and will learn something new tomorrow. So we are NOT talking about people at equal skill.

    I used my Aibo to fetch my CD's, until he became infected by the Sony rootkit. Now all he does is chew them to pieces.

    I wouldn't be so sure he's infected, he might just be smarter than you (assuming he's only chewing on Sony CD's)
