And yes, giving them an official authorization to use the trademarks (within the limited scope of discussing certain Ubuntu (mis)features and their workarounds) would also be a valid protection of their mark.
Trademark law doesn't force the trademark holder to litigate any use by third parties. It only forces them to react to such use (rather than silently ignore it). But the nature of the reaction does not need to be forbidding, it may be authorization as well. So the excuse "the law forces us to be dicks, or else we'd lose our marks" doesn't fly.
He probably meant to reply to the grand-parent (founder of this thread), but instead misclicked on the racist reply (which is no longer as high up as it used to be, given the obvious moderation it received...). His post is relevant to the thread ("it is a dickish move" => "lawyers have to be dickish, or they lose their trademark"), just not to the immediately preceding message (that racist bullshit)
Or are you just annoyed at the tangent/personal experience (Ubuntu T-Shirts)? That's stuff that just happens in a conversation, that's how conversations evolve and stay lively and interesting!
Why, it's not just bots! If you put a link out on a public web site, real people might even click on the link for you!
This is actually very useful for more persistent attacks.
Site A and Site B have both SQL injection vulnerabilities
Site A is the real target, and site B is a high traffic site getting lots of visitors
Site B somehow gets an <img width=1 height=1 src="http://www.site-a.com/cms?id=%3Bupdate content set text%3D'%3Cimg src%3D%22http://goatse.fr/hello.jpg%22%3E"--> tag added somewhere in its content
Random visitor visits site B, visitor's browsers attempts to fetch the 1x1 pixel from site A
Site A now looks lots nicer
... but somehow this does not please site A's administrator, who restores it from backup
Another person visits site B
Site A is again lots nicer
... but this still doesn't please A's admin, so he goes for another restore from backup
... and he can't even block the artist's IP because, the well, those IPs are all over the place
... all the while site B's admin is completely oblivious to the phenomenon, as nobody is going to notice a small 1x1 pixel image, much less complain about it
A protest shows a number of people sufficiently concerned about a cause that they agree to "waste" an afternoon for it. And if they are so concerned, they will probably remember this cause the time the next elections are up. And that's why politicians care about protests if they are huge enough
Happens also at ESA meetings, and quite openly so... (the emailing on the laptops brought for "taking notes", that is...). These are meetings where consortium partners (different companies...) from all over Europe gather together...
For me, taking calls is ok (but you get up, and talk outisde the door) if it's a work related call (on your work phone). That's why your employer issued you a mobile or DECT phone, after all...
Texting, (and e-mailing, and web surfing, and just letting your thoughts drift) is ok if the meeting is boring enough:-) At our place of work lots of people do this, even older ones, if the meeting's dullness justifies it... (and can be construed as a discrete way of letting the chairperson know..., hehe)
When I want to move the mouse to an item in one of their menues, the menu just closes.
Maybe somebody at twitter got annoyed at this, tried to complain to the paper, but got no response, at so gave them some of their own medicine?
O, and what's up with the cookie that they try to foist on you first thing? If your site is in such a sorry state, you are really in no position to complain.
Not on all models/option packs. My 2013 Prius Lounge Edition doesn't support turn-by-turn instructions in the HUD (although, according to the manual, other submodels do)
it's hardly 'mixing with pedestrians' if they're getting their own dedicated pathways.
Aren't these dedicated pathways just for a limited time transition period, until the system will be fully debugged...?
You could say the same about Boris bikes in London
It's harder to have sex on the privacy of your bike...
...and added roundabouts.
Doesn't that apply to all of Britain? (... and all of Europe nowadays, for that matter...)
Yes, that's boring indeed. It would be more fun if they hosted at least 5...

You cannot just build a better car, and call it a Ford...
Now, the question is: is this guy selling/providing a better Ubuntu (not allowed...), or is he just criticizing Ubuntu (allowed).
Excellent... too bad the Ubuntu site doesn't have an SQL injection to patch the logo that's displayed on their own site!
Or are you just annoyed at the tangent/personal experience (Ubuntu T-Shirts)? That's stuff that just happens in a conversation, that's how conversations evolve and stay lively and interesting!
It's like admins who customize root. If you leave it generic, then every admin knows what to expect.
... and every intruder too!
...this is buttcoin...
Reminds me of that old "do you want that sausage sliced or whole?" joke...
. If someone wants to use drugs and walk out a window that is their business.
What if he lands on somebody?
I'd say a little less than half are below average.
a, the subtle difference between median and average...
If you have a collection of 99 great drivers, and one really poor driver, then 99% would be right to think that they are above average...

...and ultimately forgetable.
I disagree.
I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot...
(typo to avoid being put on a list)
The NSA is much smarter than that...

I hope the phone developers are more capable than the website authors...
Emailing... or working on matters completely unrelated to the meeting...

Slashdot even had front-page goatse several times a couple of years back. It's hard to best that...

... pressure from their stockholders.
Methinks, it's more like the pressure was in the cat's bladder...
Next time, just be faster!
