    Also the fact that they pay when evidence is provided changes things greatly. Teachers aren't paid when they report signs of abuse, and those reports are not the sole evidence in abuse cases either.

    I would think they methods they use are really unimportant here, given the level of direct involvement by the FBI here. This is akin to giving a PI a list of names, what to look for, and then paying them if he finds anything.

    Geek squad is clearly acting as agent of the FBI here. All evidence should be disallowed due to lack of warrant.

    CEO pay is determined by the Board of directors. CEO's are often also members of the board of directors at other companies. " You vote yes for my pay raise, and I'll vote yes for your pay raise" And so the circle jerk continues with pay raises, bonuses, and perks, regardless of performance. Is it really a surprise then that the CEO pay has risen as fast as it has?

    Even easier, just pass a law banning C level employees from being board members at other companies. That's how this circle jerk of CEO pay rising started.

    Where were they supposed to get independent IRC logs to actually investigate? It's not like those servers actually log the chats themselves.

  11. Some stooge at dhs "leaked" the story to them and they never bothered to check with the only two providers in the state to verify the story before publishing. So reckless disregard for the truth still stands.

    Reporters really need to go back to journalism school and learn how to do fact checking and stop regurgitating whatever some government "source" feeds them to print.

    No reason they wouldn't want to release yet another version for sale. It's all profit it to them. Lucas is the only one that had an issue with it.

    Setting a static IP didn't work either. I had to run the network reset to fix it. Probably could have fixed it by removing the nic and reinstalling it, but the reset is just easier.

    The justification for data caps is that customers would overload the network and abuse it. So zero rating apps doesn't make any sense if there is a real need for data caps.

    Which should not be a surprise to anyone paying attention to the last 8 years. The Obama administrations has been very very aggressive in pursing charges against any and all whistleblowers.

    This is just Obama being a coward and not admitting that he refuses to pardon Snowden because he actually wants him charged.

    What use is this really? Your going to text 7000 random people looking for info over a year old? You're going to waste so much time sifting through useless non relevant information that way.

    Also who responds to random texts claiming to be police? I don't answer texts from numbers I don't know, especially not when they claim to be from a business or government office.

    There was scam run just last month with texts claiming to be from the IRS.

    Such a waste of time. Data gathering like this is just stupid.

    I had the same exact experience shopping around for cell service. Not one would tell me what my monthly bill would actually end up at. And of course it ended up about $20 more than the advertised price thanks to fees. Lucky for me this area isn't very busy so I switched to prepaid service and get the same level of service with out "fees" added on.

  24. Basically yes. You want to live in a high cost of living area, then you'll have to work on top of UBI to do so. You don't want to work at all, then you'll have to move to where UBI covers all your costs.

    I don't see a problem with that. It's really not that different then what's going on already, how many people work 2 or 3 jobs to live in the bay area or NYC today?

    With UBI they can afford to move to a new area as they have guaranteed income and don't have to worry about getting a job right away.

  25. Somehow the most likeable candidate supposedly couldn't win against the two most unlikable candidates ever. Or at least that's how his campaign was framed right from the start by pundits and the media in general.

    That is some damn fine propaganda work there. What's truly sad is that it worked.
