    Because there is a process in place already. They can deny the request and if the petitioner wants to fight that, then they can go to court and hash out a precedent.

    This is so true. Just as it is in NYC. The cab companies who owned the artificially limited number of medallions in the city made tons of money of the backs of poor drivers and over charging riders for decades. I'm glad uber and lyft ect can finally operate in the city. You can see just how much of a strangle hold lmedallion owners had on the market by looking at the value for the those medallions now. They used to sell for $1 million plus, now only a couple hundred grand.

    Exactly. That is the justification for the incredibly high salaries and benefits C level exec get isn't it? If they aren't going to be responsible then they don't really need that level compensation do they?

    Awww you're so optimistic. Considering the stupidly short attention span of the average American, this will be long forgotten before any kind of law or regulation can even be written let alone brought up for a vote.

    If you're only going to watch videos, then you probably don't want a Tab 7 E Lite. The display quality is terrible and low resolution. You'll want the shell out the extra bucks for a pro version with the far better display and higher resolution.

    Unfortunately Android tablet makers won't put a good display on a cheap tablet, they only put them on the top end devices.

  7. Nah it's easy to split. NBC, Comcast internet, and Wired infrastructure company. One is a content provider, one offers services to residents, the other leases the infrastructure to service providers.

    I block ads because they're malware vectors and not worth the risk. How obtrusive they aren't doesn't really matter anymore. Until they actually look over the code of all ads before they offer them up, I'm not going to allow them.

    Isn't it wiser to take precautions before it happens rather than wait and react if/when it does happen?

    If you see a possible danger, shouldn't you at least think about taking some steps to prevent it?

    This is the issue in a nutshell really. People who think that recommendations and the like are AI, and therefore AI is perfectly safe. That is pretty far from AI, and that's why they don't see the possible danger with real AI.

  12. Seems likely that at some point one owner was sloppy with their paper work and probably sold the debt multiple times. The people buying the debt were not careful with their paperwork either and so can't prove they actually own the debt.

    Of course these people aren't really losing much as they likely paid only pennies on the dollar for the debt in the first place.

  13. Not paying taxes is hardly a subsidy when you are required by law to keep certain office locations open, inefficient delivery routes, and deliver to everyone in the US regardless of location.

    Johny Depp is hardly rich compared to what some make in this country. Hedge fund managers are racking billions with a B in income every year. Yes they spend some of it. But not enough to drive any kind of demand.

    For example. You could make 1 $100million yacht and sell it once. Or make and sell 100,000 $1000.00 boats. Which is better for the economy as a whole?

    Typically that's how the stock market should work, people invest extra cash to help a business grow and see a return down the road. But that hasn't been the case for quite a long time now. Why do you think so many companies are burning cash in stock buybacks? It's certainly not to grow the business.

    Part of the problem is that once you get a job benefits stop entirely. So if you don't get a job that pays enough, you're better off not working at all.

    We could fix this by simply having benefits reduce in accordance with income rather than having them cutoff entirely.

    I'm not sure what your point is here? Sure Comcast the conglomerate may have 11% profit margin, but everything I've read estimates the profit margin to be around 20 - 30% for their network services. I've heard the broadcasting division is one that's really dragging down the profits.

    What's also terrible is that the Intel modems are not compatible with cdma networks. Meaning that if LTE is not available, you can't use verzions network with an iphone that has the Intel modem.

    Be careful if you want to switch providers.

    This is to do with the modem chips in the phones. The intel chips don't have the functionality to work on Verizon's non lte networks, so Qualcomm chips were used in the Verizon model. This is why a phone purchased for att&t or tmoblie won't work on Verzions network if LTE is not available.

    THe Qualcomm modem is theoretically faster than the Intel modem on LTE, but real world use is unlikely to ever see the difference.

    Are you forgetting the fact that Garland was specifically named as a reasonable nominee by the republican party, long before Obama selected him? Only after he was picked did it become an issue.

  25. Imax used to mean really fucking big screen, sadly most of the new imax screens being built today are little bigger than the standard screen sizes, with the imax logo slapped on it and boosted ticket prices.
