    This soo much! I used to go to Newegg because I wanted to buy from Newegg. If I wanted to buy from some random third party I would have used ebay. Search on Newegg is worthless now as it's soo polluted with crap results now.

  7. Star trek has always been limited by budget. It's easy to show a variety of diverse looking aliens when you only have to show them for one scene. A recurring exotic looking alien would be cost and time prohibitive on a tv show.

    They don't have a lidar system. If the camera system and the radar system don't agree, it doesn't engage crash avoidance.

    It's not just the distro's, it's also the users the drive new people away. Linux needs good word of mouth to grow. Everytime a new users comes in asking the same dumb questions and gets a bad response they tell everyone they know that linux users are assholes and not to bother with it. It's a small community and so negative replies stand out more. You want it to grow you have to reply to every dumb question that's been asked a million times, with a polite response and not just "rtfm" or "google it".

    This is such a crap excuse. Take NYC for example, one of the highest population density cities in the world and yet you can't even get FIOS in most of the city. ISP's simply don't want to offer faster service. Verizon won't because they want to push you on to the wireless network, and time warner/charter doesn't want to lose cable tv subscribers to streaming services.

    A thinner phone means a smaller battery as well. Keeping the headphone jack sets a minimum size limit on the thickness of the phone. IF the headphone jack is the limiting factor, then by keeping the jack we should see longer running phones. I'd say that would be a far better improvement than having a few mm thinner phone.

    It's not the defect itself that's the story here. It's the bribe/gag order that's the story. They won't cover the defect, fine. But to offer him money to keep quiet about it, that's a big deal!

  15. It's a bribe to keep his mouth shut. If its found to be a manufacturing defect they could be made to issue a recall or extend the warranty to cover the issue which would be quite expensive.

  18. Is this really that much different than when a company dumps a truckload of files when they are force to produce documents in civil case? Bury a few memos in a truckload of documents and hope the other guy misses it. The evidence was produced, but they aren't under any obligation to help you find what you're looking for. In this case the drives are in evidence, the police can poke and prod it for as long as they want. Why should he be compelled to help them find what they are looking for?

    No need to believe the either. He isn't being charged with the crime, he's be charged and held for obstruction. They clearly don't have enough evidence to proceed with child pornography charges or they would have already.

  20. I'd image the computational power would be quite high to run even 1 simulation like this. Now imagine the computational power required to run such a simulation if that simulation started running one of its own.

    Does it matter? This bug not being fixed reflects very poorly on google and android as a whole, not the carriers, or the manufacturers. Google should at least put up a patch and then leave it in the hands of the carriers to push it our or not. To not even bother making a fix just proves the android fragmentation problem is a serious issue.

    Yes more revenue, but still not as profitable. The problem is that it also costs them more to provide more services even when bundled. Whearas with wireless they can provide all the same services but charge significantly more to actually provide it.
