    XUL is interesting but by and large useless as a real application platform until you can navigate and modify databases with it.

    Also it will not gain widespread acceptance until there is a GUI builder and a data binding framework that your average PHP hacker can wield.

    XAML will most likely have both of those if and when it comes out.

    That's not my definition, it's yours. Aren't you guys always talking about "intellectual liberal elite?". Liberals live in urban areas and have collage degrees. Conservatives live in suburbs or rural areas and don't have much of an education.

    Just recently comedy central did a study and found out that the viewers of John Stewart made more money, knew more about current affairs and had better education then viewers of Bill O'Reilly.

    The same stats have been found about viewers of Fox news in general tye tend to be by and large high school graduates that are sorely misinformed.

    So sure your typical conservative is going to be a great shot and enjoy killing humans greatly but your typical liberal will be able to outhink him and kill them by the bucketfuls.

    I don't think liberals would fight with guns. They would probably use their superior intellect to craft chemical and biological weapons. You are right it would make no sense to try adn fight republicans with AK47s, not only do they have more experience with killing they are also more heavily armed. It's probably better to light up a suburb with some sort of a chemical weapon. You get to kill a thousand republicans in one shot that way.

    You wouldn't but other would. People drop half a mil on cars these days. Most yachts owned by billionaires cost tens of millions of dollars. Same with airplanes.

    Space travel won't be for you or me for a very long time. In the mean time there are lots of people who wouldn't think twice about dropping 200K a few times a year.

    It's kind of sick when you think about it too much though. There are millions of people in the world who live on $2.00 a day.

    That's right they would not. It's not liberals that are doing that. It's most likely right wingers who already do those types of things trying to make liberals look bad.

    Liberals tend to do things like form human chains and lock themselves to objects. The right wingers OTOH have a history of killing and burning crosses.

    BTW. I would love to be wrong. I would love it if the liberals finally stopped being wimpy and started killing republicans. It's about time to stop being a doormat.

    Outlook is the single worst UI in all of the world.

    Not only do you have tools.services, tools.options and tools.customize but you can also make changes from the control panel!

    Virtually every tab in the options dialog has buttons on it that open up other dialogs and even some of those have "advanced" options which open up yet another dialog.

    You are going to ask a sysadmin that does not know the difference between emacs and vi to install and maintain linux?

    Wow talk about a recipe for disaster. If your sysadmin can not fire up vi or emacs don't install linux. Just don't do it.

    I have no idea what kind of cross platform software runs 10 times as fast on windows. To me it indicates an extremely poor written app.

    In any case you still have a choice. You have one application which ties you to windows and I bet they have a competitor who does not. If you choose the application that ties you to one platform then you are leading yourself down the road of vendor lock.

    Still I doubt that over 5% of your userbase uses that modeling app anyway. You can make other choices for the remaining 95%.

    Better to tell them you are ditching their product because they do not support your prefered platform. They won't do anything unless they are losing business.

    I don't know about "too much reality" reality is ugly enough. The fact that a shill like you exists is pretty hard. I find it disgusting that some preverted soul someplace feels some sort of an identity with a corporation.

    When I was in high school there were people who identified themselves with chevy or ford and walked around praising their favorite corporation while denigrating another corporation as if it really mattered that much whether one corporation got their money or another. I always thought it was probably because it made kids feel somehow more powerful if they identified with a powerful corporation.

    Are you still in high school? Do you feel powerful when you defend a corporation like MS? Did you choose MS to shill for because they were more powerful then ford or nike?

    I am honestly curious as to why somebody feels the need to shill for any corporation and how they choose their corporation.

    Or maybe you are simply a paid astro turfer. That may be the reality as well.

    I am sorry but outlook sucks ass. It's slow, bloated, has the single worst UI I have ever seen on any program, it never works the same on two different computers, it's filters are extremely limited yadda yadda. I can go on for days abotu how much I hate outlook and yet I have to use it at work.

    I honestly don't get people who like outlook. I think they are either brain damaged or simply don't know any better.

    As for building a workflow system out of it. If any corporation does something that dumb they deserve all the vendor lock they get.

    Yes. The question should have been. "why would anybody use this when java web start already exists and runs on every platform". The correct comparison of xaml is to swing or any of the xml motors to swing not XUL.

    Wer should encourage every corporation to threaten moving to linux and cut MS profits down by significant amounts.

    Thanks to Linux their profits in Asia (and soon russia) will be drastically reduced. Whoo Hoo.

    You are right. You will not be able to move people who have wilfully locked themselves into one vendor. These people have subjugated themselves to MS and now must be willing to be lead around by MS.

    Seek out their competitor maybe they are not locked in to one vendor and maybe they are interested in gaining even more competitive advantage.
