Begging your pardon, but yes it certainly was. /. ran a story a few days ago about how Badnarik, Cobb, and Nader are gathering funding for a recount in several key states. Not to mention the fact that the discrepancy between exit polls and actual results was larger than usual. Yes, I'm re-hashing old material...sue me.

  11. Re:How about empower the Electoral College on How Would You Change U.S. Election Procedures? · · Score: 0

I disagree, although I see your point. The problem with giving power back to the electoral college is that the system is so outdated--it was actually created not too long after the US became a nation. While I agree that the system is broken, I think that a popular vote would be more effective in the long run. Fixing the electoral system only serves to remove citizens further from the electoral process; something that defies the true meaning of a democracy.

  12. Re:Bush to win 50% to 48% on Election Day Discussion · · Score: 0

No, I don't think that the left always resorts to violence. If that were the case, Bush would have been removed from office shortly after he made it in 4 years ago. However, judging by the feelings of many democrats (and even some republicans), I believe that things could be different this time around. (BTW: I'm not too worried about the Secret Service)

    Thank you for your pessimism.
If Bush gets 'elected' for another 4 years, I do believe that he and his administration will have a number of unpleasant assasination attempts to deal with. Of course I would never even think of supporting such a thing /sarcasm

  17. Just my opinion on Companies that Still Don't Ship to Canada? · · Score: 0

Personally, I think that this has nothing to do with a lack of market. Even though Canada has a smaller population than the U.S., there are still plenty of people who would order products via the internet or a catalog. Really, I think the issue is in the transportation of goods across the border, especially in the case of electronic equipment. In going on a business trip to Canada, I had to bring several PCs with me, and was stopped at the border for nearly an hour. Even though the borders are "open", both Canada and the U.S. are cautious about allowing certain goods to pass through without considerable questioning.
