  1. Kudos to them... on Cthulhu Lurks In Dark Gaming Corners, Heeds Call · · Score: 1

You've got to give the developers some credit for sticking with a such a hardcore licence, it's not like Johny Mainstream knows that much about Lovecraft, or gives a damn about Cthulhu.

Having said that, I'm surprised there haven't been more official games before now, most horror titles seem content to rip it off poorly, rather than license it, and I bet it's not the most expensive deal in the world, given it's niche popularity...

  2. Hang on a minute... on Giving Up Passwords For Chocolate · · Score: 2, Redundant

Without the ability to check that the passwords given are correct, surely the survey results will be totally inacurate?

If someone came up to me in the street and asked me for my password in exchange for a gift, i'd just tell them any old word to get the free stuff...

  3. The Subject of Choice on Ask the Robotic Psychiatrist · · Score: 4, Interesting

Can you forsee a point at which intelligent machines/robots will refuse to allow humans to program them any more? If so, how will this affect society?

I don't necesarily mean in a malicious way either, just that at some point artificial intelligence might advance to the point where it would percieve human intervention as potentialy damaging, and respond accordingly.

  4. I'd buy that for a dollar... on Brain Chip Approved For Paralysis Research · · Score: 5, Interesting

From the article: "The signals will be monitored through wires emerging from the skull, which presents some danger of infection. The company is working on a wireless version"

If they can work out a way to hook it into an 802.11g home network, i'd get one fitted, paralysis or not!

Imagine being able to control devices in the home as easily as controlling a limb. Of course controlling those same devices when drunk would be another matter entirely...

  5. Re:Converted on PowerBooks & iBooks Get Speed Bumped · · Score: 1

Cheers buddy, it was a genuine question!
It's just been waaaaay too long since I last looked into buying an Apple, and I wasn't sure how things stood. If anything I was inviting the Mac users to trumpet about how great they were.

Anyway, it seems like some people have seen sense, i'm no longer a Troll.

  6. Converted on PowerBooks & iBooks Get Speed Bumped · · Score: 2, Interesting

Can someone refresh my memory? How fast is a 1.5ghz Apple processor when converted into Intel ghz?

  7. Re:What is the point of scanning at such a high re on 600 PowerMacs Make One DVD · · Score: 1

Surely it will be useful for those films that might need a bit of remastering? A nice high res digital version would be invaluable.

We just better hope that George Lucas hasn't already booked time on these to scan in Star Wars ready for some more changes...

  8. Great... on 600 PowerMacs Make One DVD · · Score: 4, Funny

So now I'm going to have to go out and buy a whole new set of DVD's when they release the '4K Edition' of all my favourite films. And I thought I was safe until Blu-Ray came out...

  9. Official Site on The Novel as Software · · Score: 2, Informative

More information about the novel, the software and the author can be found here.

It's not a bad read actually, even if the idea is not exactly new...

  10. Down on Inexpensive Dashboard PC · · Score: 3, Informative

It's down already and there are only 2 replies. God bless that Slashdot effect.

  11. Re:Give Me Ramming Speed! on Best Sci-Fi Space Battles? · · Score: 1

You seem to be confusing ST:V (Voyager) and STV (Star Trek Movie 5)...
