WR Hamblect is taking reconfirmations but *not* changes... and they have severly oversold according to an account rep tonight. Since they don't do lottery, unless you were buying a lot, have a good trading history or a lot of cash in your account don't expect to get shares through Hamblecht. And if you tried to sneak a change in (I did, dumb, I know) you'll almost certainly get a rejection.
The best thing to do in such a case is be there the second the market opens. Good luck. --- Openstep/NeXTSTEP/Solaris/FreeBSD/Linux/ultrix/OSF /...
Here here for open source! Before the open source Natalie Portman I felt I was destined to date ignorant pretty girls who didn't understand what all the unix workstations in my apartment were for. Now thanks to open source Natalie Portman, a few lines of code here and there and she understand the wonders of a Decstation 5000/120 and why the NeXTCUBE is still the most sexy box ever made.
THANK YOU OPEN SOURCE! --- Openstep/NeXTSTEP/Solaris/FreeBSD/Linux/ultrix/OSF /...
As a regular reader of xenu.net and a staunch critic of $cientology I have to wondere where the hell is the EFF. This is one of the first real cases out there where they can prove their metal and worth as an orginization to actually defend our online rights. This is a case that can certainly make or break the EFF... maybe that is why they are being so quiet on this one.
$cientology must be stopped, and they must be stopped now.
On a side note for any $cios reading. As soon as I dig myself up one of your DC7 looking lil' ol' spacecraft I'm going fly home and kick Xenu in the head for setting off all those nukes in the first place and messing with mother Earth. (For those that don't know the above bunch of smack is atually accepted truths in the higher ranks of $cientology).
Well as a man made trend. Sometimes it amazes me to see how quickly those here on slashdot who are "supposedly" the enlightened ones... miss the boat.
Read some real science, not something rehashed by cnn for the US congress and you will be suprised to learn that this supposed global warming isn't from us. And its not affecting the world the way the news would like you to believe. Check water locked ice levels and you will be suprised to see the portion that should be melting, isn't. For a good overview bring up deja.com and check out sci.skeptic.
Uh how do you get more stuff with the install of Win98 than a typical unix install? When I am done with a FreeBSD install (in about 20 mins) not only do I have a full BSD style system with get this, an okay browser (Netscape), KDE, tons of tools and can you believe this, an actual compiler?!@# How insane!@#$ Oh and uh a typical linux install is the same.
You must not be monitoring your line very well. There have been at least 7 outages in SF that I am aware of. The last one was rather short at about 2 hours... however the previous outage lasted for about 19 hours. Also the fact that you have to wait about 15 minutes to hear their "we know there is trouble" speel is quite annoying. That and once your line is changed to DSL you can't get any kind of normal support anymore, they immediately transfer you to the DSL department which is only open 9-5.
Then again when it is up (which is most of the time) it is very fast, and I am always bumping up against my upper limits meaning they have plenty of bandwith to spare. --- Openstep/NeXTSTEP/Solaris/FreeBSD/Linux/ultrix/OSF /...
I've had ADSL for quite a bit now and been more than happy with it. But now... oh my. For $159 a month I can get 1.5m-6m/384k. Yes thats right 1.5m dedicated in and 384k out for a measly 160 a month. The downside? One IP address. But I can deal with NAT'ed traffic for that. Its kinda weird to be downloading at 40 and 50k a second and watching streaming anime off the net at the same time... all the while serving a shoutcast station.
Well weird for me because I was at a startup ISP in the early 90s who "KICKED ASS" because of our dedicated 56k pipe to the net. --- Openstep/NeXTSTEP/Solaris/FreeBSD/Linux/ultrix/OSF /...
Or maybe Paul is finally tired of playing second fiddle to a bumbling fool and sees trasnmeta as his way to overtake Bill.
Unlike Bill, Paul has some pretty amazingly diverse investments and interests. Even if the mighty Microsoft were to fail he is covered in so many ways he wouldn't have to worry about falling out of the top ten richest people in the world.
What the hell is so wrong with trolls? slashdot is becoming more and more anal rentative as its popularity among the "normal" world grows. I for one think this is quite annoying... trolls make for some of the funniest threads there are. Yes there are the occasional assholes but I find that many comments moderated down to -1 are actually pretty damn funny. slashdot (the community) needs to get over itself and lighten up. --- Openstep/NeXTSTEP/Solaris/FreeBSD/Linux/ultrix/OSF /...
Do you know what FUD means? No, wait. Think about it for a second. Do you really know what it means? And if so how could you have called that article/editorial FUD?
Get off the FUD train boys and girls it got old about 9 months ago.
Will get you no where... if you really want to date the trash that is out there then go and do it the normal way. Yes bars suck. Yes all singles scenes suck but you know what? anything worthwhile in life comes at a price. It just so happens this price is buying a few drinks and listening to a few complete dimwits. --- Openstep/NeXTSTEP/Solaris/FreeBSD/Linux/ultrix/OSF /...
Any why, praytell, a devoted Linux user? I am getting really sick of this sudden assumption that because one uses linux they are tech savy and computer gurus. The fact is just like another OS the bulk of linux users know just enough to get by.
Seeing first hand the many problems less computer savy people have with email (from friends to co-workers) there is a much simpler reason than encryption/verification of sender... too damn easy to lose. I see people delete mails all the time, forget the can undo and lose it for good. I see people delete entire mail folders on accident... imap stores crash... pst files get corrupted. Paper for all its faults is a pretty easy medium to hold onto and not lose.
So I am sitting here reading some of the responses after trudging through that fine piece of writing and find myself amazed.
Amazed that many of the posters here apparently don't know about 10. and 192.168. nets set aside specifically for doing things like. NAT is a great thing. Its what we need for IPV4 until we can finally convince everyone to move on with V6. --- Openstep/NeXTSTEP/Solaris/FreeBSD/Linux/ultrix/OSF /...
Not currently. Every PDA shipped with CE, has it in ROM right now. Updates and patches actually waste your owns storage space. I don't expect this to change any time soon either since PDA's need the OS in ROM for a number of reasons.
The other poster is indeed correct. WinCE is not stored in rom anywhere on the machine. Every Dreamcast game ships with it's own OS on the CD.
In addition to WinCE developers have the choice of using the SegaOS or developing their own OS to do things... there won't be many games developed using the CE stuph for a bit. Its just there to help people do PC ports. --- Openstep/NeXTSTEP/Solaris/FreeBSD/Linux/ultrix/OSF /...
No you aren't. Especially in more populated areas there are very distinct laws for what you can put up in plain view of everyone else... height, lighting, and even colour in some places.
This wasn't because of the alpha proc but instead because of the respective bios on the motherboard. There have been many work arounds released since then. --- Openstep/NeXTSTEP/Solaris/FreeBSD/Linux/ultrix/OSF /...
This is America. This is American life. You are the one who is whining and complaining. As a country we worked damn hard to get to this super comfortable life level, so we deserve it. You need to stop passing your guilt on to the rest of the world.
Keep lots of spare servers out there... make sure you have plenty of ram to keep a great deal of spare servers sitting around and set your spare server limit high. Cutting down the timeouts to shorter levels will also free those spare servers up faster.
Number two? Use ab.c to check how things are going after you make changes to the conf file.
Of course there is some *real* tuning you can do but for the most part, people don't really need it. Right now with a stock 1.3.6 and plenty of spare servers I can get 453 requests a second out of a dual PII-350.
Open up windows telnet, select some text now use the normal keys to cut and pas... er woops.
