  2. The Scientific approach on Study Shows Males Commonly Mistake Sexual Intent · · Score: 1

Years ago I was a reporter and once covered a scientific conference. One of the sociological reports studied world-wide attraction between sexes. Universally, men seek: Youth, status and (unless culturally overridden) lighter skin than their own. Universally, women seek status. Status within the society can be more shrunken heads, more money, more wisdom, more intelligence, whatever the society values. Hope that helps, guys. Personally, being a geek female, I seek intelligence. I could care less about the money or looks. I am very happily married to a short, bearded astrophysist. One other comment - Some women feel that they cannot be friendly around men without being misinterpreted. I am an exuberant female who like to hug. This is not a come-on. It is "I like you as a friend, and your comments/behavior caused me to feel good. Thanks" Some guys cannot comprehend this thinking.

People have different ways of amusing themselves, TV, books, parties, bars, etc. I am a 55 year old grandmother, and I love gaming. I have bookcases of games, some of them on 3 1/2 inch floppies from the 1980s. I had to quit the MMORPGs because i was calling in sick to work in order to play them. Right now, I an involved with Oblivion, and am considering buying a Nitendo system to play the RPGs. I'll make you a deal. I won't sneer at the way you have fun, if you don't sneer at the way I have fun.

  8. What women (and men) really want on Deciphering the Brain's Love Map · · Score: 1

Back in the 70's, when I worked as a journalist, I was sent to cover a seminar with all sorts of scientific types, such as anthropologists, sociologists, etc. One of the papers presented was a scientific study, done worldwide, as to what men universally seek in a woman, and what women universally seek in a man. In a nutshell, men seek - youth, status and lighter skin (although it was acknowledged that this can be culturally overwritten - i.e. tans in the Caucasian coastal areas) Women universally seek - status. It's simple, guys. Increases your social status and women will find you attractive. Status can take many forms. Some women look for high status in material objects. As a geek female, I sought high intelligence (and found it in a short, bearded astrophysicist).

Zork for text games (1980s) I was taking a class in personal computers in the 80s and was told by the professor that my 5 hours of personal design should be used to get him past the point in Zork where he was stuck. Great fun. Might and Magic (early 1990s)Classic Dungeons and Dragons. Morrowind and Arcanum for innovation. (late 1990s) Cant comment on the MMORPGs, as when I tried to play those, my husband would come in and want dinner or attention or something and then my group would grumble or or die (I play clerics), so I had to give them up.

  10. Why? Why? Why? on Troika Games Closes · · Score: 1

I own two out of the three games (Arcanum and Vampire) and both are on my desktop for quick replay. I have never had a problem with crashes. I mourn that an innovative, creative company has closed. I want to know why. Are single player Role Playing Games history? Has everyone gone over to Everquest and other internet games? I love the social factor of the internet games, but sometimes I need or want to play a solo game, so I can pay attention to my husband. He tends to get very neglected when I play the MMORPGs, and a cranky husband stomping around, going "And dinner is going to be when???" tends to disrupt your concentration. Is everyone buying first person shooters? Why did Troika fold????

As an ex-cowboy (I'm from Montana), I can tell you that animals have sharp senses, and can find a small spring of water in a 10 square mile desert. If you spend enough time away from the noise, smells and chaos of civilization, you also develop sharp senses and can sense weather changes and natural phenomenon. Once in the city (when I live now) there is so much noise, weird smells and chaotic energy, this ability fades. I have no doubt that the aborigines sensed the Tsunami.

My son has done three tours in the middle East. My husband and I treasured every email that he was able to send, read and reread them and kept them in a special folder with his name. He sent us what he wanted us to know. If he had been killed, I would have respected his right of privacy. The other emails, I'm sure, have to do with gaming, interactions with his friends and military humor (not always tasteful). While getting the other emails may have been nice, anything he wanted us to see he would have forwarded. There is much going on over there that he will not tell us, even now that he is back. I would not have fought the deletion of the emails out of respect and love for my son. I question why it is so important to the family to get the emails.

I HATED the thing growing inside me, and got rid of it (which was illegal in my state at the time)
A mixed race baby had little to no chance of adoption.
