    I just never had such problems with optical media. I did have some problems with my SUSE 10.0 DVD, but a little cleaning got it back.

    A 5.25-inch disk has a radius of 2.625 inches. The area of the disk is thus 21.65 square inches (remember A=pi × r^2). Even using both sides, that's just 42.3 square inches.

    But the fact that Microsoft isn't a scavenger like SCO should make Microsoft more cautious as well. SCO had little to lose in suing IBM. Also, if such a suit is riskier, it also has greater rewards.

    As far as AIX goes, on how many architectures can it run?

    Why wouldn't it be in IBM's interest to have a patent war against Microsoft? Doesn't IBM have more patents than Microsoft?

    How much more consistent can uninstalling get from rpm -Uvh foo-1.0.0-i586.rpm (to install package foo)? How is rpm -e foo not an uninstallation script?

    But in the absence of H1B workers, what would the prevailing wage be? If companies can't hire enough workers at the prevailing wage, then the prevailing wage is below the market wage. H1B's may not affect the prevailing wage, but they may still affect the market wage.

    But Roark didn't require that the entire rest of the world share his view. He required that some other people share his view (to some extent), but not everybody.

    Your case for software is even weaker, as programming is cheaper than building. Who was Stallman's client when he wrote gcc?

    Wasn't it IBM, by lending its name and open design (except for the BIOS, which was reversed engineered by Phoenix(?)), that made the PC a commodity?
