    What waste issue, you do realize you're surrounded by radiation now right? Granite counter tops, bananas, air line travel [boom headshot]. Btw some thing will kill you, be it cold, or starvation b/c you don't live next to the food you eat, or perhaps bacteria growing in the natural environment that decided you were a good place to set up shop. But hey, you keep trying to make everybody confirm to your nanny-state, gaia fueled fantasy and let me know how that works out.

    Opera has a much lower footprint as well. Fenec's best attribute for me right now is adblock and user agent switcher, some sites really piss me off by forcing me to their mobile site that's basically just a link to their app.
    This 1000x, wtf is with everybody deciding my mobile browser needs to be redirected to m.url if I wanted to do that I would have typed in that url. Btw use about:debug on the stock android browser then select settings -> more to get to the user agent switch

    I like your ideas, perhaps we could have a cultural revolution to launch a great leap forward and get all this done in say 5 years? May I subscribe to your newsletter? Does it come in a small portable format like a book? Perhaps in red?

    Washington DC vs. Heller and McDonald vs. City of Chicago were gun control cases, it pretty much goes without saying that a conservative court will rule for looser gun controls.

    Not that the Dems are much better, mind you. But if you really think the GOP is going to protect a free internet, you are a truly deluded individual. The only chance for maintaining a free internet would be the rise of a third party, and that's almost an impossibility in the U.S.
    No, we(the US) will wind up with a pseudo-neutral internet simply b/c Big Media and Big Telecoms haven't bought each other out and therefore some half ass compromise will keep the polititcians' campaign funds well stocked. The other point the GP post mentioned about a dislike for nanny statism is unfortunately in decline w/ self reliance frequently mistaken for selfishness.

    You've never played Dragon Age 2, have you? It has, at the beginning, a very clear goal; escape the Blight, make it to Kirkwall, and find a way to establish you and your family as something other than utterly destitute refugees selling handjobs in the alleys. Once you've completed that goal,other goals grow rather organically out of it. Sure, that's differnet than DA:O,
    Yes, but unlike say Planescape:Torment, I just don't give a fig about Hawke, or most of his companions, and the drudgery of combat makes it hard to plow through to the end. Having played a mage most often in DA:O, I know now how playing a 2h warrior must have felt. Hopefully, EA/Bioware will learn from this mistake and not streamline the next DA title. Oh and spend a little more time on development.

    Yeah, you raise a good point, I really can't stand those films by that American Director John Woo. Why couldn't he be more sophisticated like those Asian directors. Instead of an over the top machismo, guy with gun, I prefer the androgynous, emo guy with big ass sword trope. PS. Dragon Age 2 is consolized crap, which is what happens when you try to blend different genres quickly and under budget.

    until WWII somehow allowed colleges to become selective.
    That's easy it's called the GI Bill. It allowed a nation to slowly reabsorb all those soldiers into the workforce without causing massive shocks to the economy.

    after his rightward lurch during the election would probably have gone to war with Iran, would have appointed right-wing nutjobs to the EPA, Department of the Interior, etc., and would have emboldened the Republican party for generations --"look how much we screwed the country up with Bush, and we still got re-elected, we can do anything!" So he was still worth voting for.
    You're right of course, Obama was totally able to fix the Interior Department so that nothing bad happened...Oh wait. That's ok, b/c the peace loving senator who is not a warmonger won't totally attack another country without running by Congress, unless we've be attacked ourselves just like he said to Bush about bombing Iran...Oh wait. Well hey, Gitmo is closed and warrantless wiretaps are all fixed too... Oh bother.

    Let me just pick an example. (I'll use a car analogy.) A premium factory sound system might be $1,500. It will be well-integrated into a modern car: The speaker grills will match the interior, the lighting will match other electronic stuff in the car, and it will function with steering wheel/rear seat controls or voice command or whatever other gee-whiz functions the car happens to have.
    Seeing as how most of the labor cost of an install goes into tearing the car apart to put that shit in, then it's not really applicable to an extra 5 minutes while the pieces are being put into place the 1st time. Or do you think the automaker need to amortize the cost of engineering a sat nav over 100,000 units at 5x the cost of an off the shelf garmin?

    Afghanistan on the other hand, the US unilaterally went in, helped in an existing civil war, ousted the theocratic, tyranical despots, which is good but then the US dropped the ball to go gallivanting around Iraq.
    Wow, some pretty good revisionism there. What the US had in Afghanistan, probably invented in Iraq, and doesn't have in Libya is Casus belli. This will set a terrible precedent for the future, meanwhile in the Ivory Coast there was an actual election and the West is doing nothing but embargoing cocoa.

    How can you be so in love with nuclear that even when four reactors are in various states of melting down and leaking dangerous amounts of radiation into the environment that you find it necessary to attack any doubts on the supposed safety and environmental goodness of nuclear power?
    Probably as a reaction to the severe and unmigitaged NEWS CHANNELS running some sort of extinction level event coverage 24/7 w/ every anti nuclear asshole they can find to provide baseless supposition about what is happening and see every "journalist" and news reader get basic facts about radiation wrong. Oh and dangerous amounts of radiation requires many qualifiers and explanations. Meanwhile, several thousand people are dead yet no one wants to declare war on the sea and mighty Neptune. Fuck it, how long til Bird Flu comes back around to kill us and our children too! Won't someone think of the children!

    Not really, took over a hundred years and a bit of pretzle logic to get to that point. I expect the newer courts will wake up and realize that the ICC(interstate commerce clause) is not a catch all for whatever the govt. wants to do. See Thomas' dissent of Gonzales v. Raich.
