    Because if carrier lock down is not permitted for subsidized phones then that market will end very quickly. As such it would not be something I would want to come to the US. One of the reasons for the explosion in smart phone popularity other than marketing is that buyers never had to pay for the phone up front.
    Gee, you handle subsidized phones the way you did before, you charge the appropriate fee if the person terminates their contract. This isn't rocket science. Oh, you meant how do I keep people jumping to the next big thing if I can't keep the phone locked down allowing them to update their phone instead of the new shiny 2 yrs later. Well, the automotive industry survived the death of tail fins, I'm sure the smart phone industry can survive a lack of locked bootloaders etc.

    Al Qaeda turned on the U.S. during the first Persian Gulf War against Iraq, when the U.S. established bases in Saudi Arabia, and started two decades of extensive military intervention in the Middle East. Al Qaeda was especially incensed at an infidel army camping in the middle of the Muslim holy land, Saudia Arabia.
    Actually, Osama was pissed b/c the US c blocked his grand scheme to use his mujahadeen to remake the Mid East and overthrow the house of Saud.

    Bzzzt, wrong. A professional engineer is a certification, you could be a practising Chemical Engineer or Mechanical Engineer and gotten your professional engineer certification.

    Wow, just wow. If only that were true, but it isn't. Since any disagreements w/ this President regardless of merit are met with accusations of racism, that clearly isn't the case. Identity politics will continue to play a major role in electing presidents.

    You do realize, that unlike your football and basketball stars, you actually have a real hero, don't you? He is in your prison - a political prisoner, because he dared to challenge the government and its illegal activities.
    If by "hero" you mean angry homosexual who didn't like being in the Army, then yes we do. Of course in an all volunteer armed forces, if Manning wasn't enjoying himself, he could have quit. If he wanted to expose wrong doing he could have forwarded any evidence he had to the appropriate civilian oversight(ie Congress). Instead, he got chatted up by an albino w/ an ax to grind against the US and violated several lawful orders during wartime, quite frankly he is lucky he hasn't been shot already.

    And if you are already using some custom rom with clockworkmod, installing CM9 is as imbarassingly easy as copying the newest build on the internal sd and flashing it via recovery or the Rom Manager.
    Assuming you aren't using a Nexus One or other phone w/ small system partitions, otherwise you need to repartition your phone to install the current alphas.

    You apparently missed the part about gaming the overtime rules(you know when you get paid time and a half or double the rate if it's a holiday). That is how you drive up your annual compensation which is what the pension will be based on not the "salary".

    I don't believe the Earth will be like Venus because Venus is in a different orbit than Earth is. But I do think the Earth will change and probably become hostile to our species. We didn't always have the atmosphere we do now. and when our species dies off, another species will take our place. Our sun can probably support the deveopment of one more species before it perishes. The Human species had its chance to survive and chose badly.
    Here we go again, 1st species very similar to ours survived the last ice age. You know when most of northern europe and north america were covered in fucking ice! So, I'm pretty sure humanity will survive the coming ecological apocalypse. 2nd the term irreversible need to be qualified on what time scale we are talking about the earth has been around for 4+ billion years, and has probably undergone several irreversible climate changes(the introduction of large quanties of oxygen being one). However, if you want to do your part please prepare a large concrete tomb and before it sets shoot yourself in the head, and fall into said concrete that way your carbon will be sequestered and help reduce the greenhouse gases.

    I wouldn't be too sure about that. The last time the US sent troops into a war with a country that was a serious opponent was WW2.
    Please if you think the country that sent human wave attacks against Saddam, could count as a serious opponent to the US you are mistaken. Now that Obama has shown the future of US conflicts is drone and air attacks w/out ground troops, the US Air Force could strip the Iranians' air defenses in a week followed by 2-3 weeks of carpet bombing, and then just pull back and let the people decide whom they want to lead them. Not sure how you think the Iranians could do serious damage, their navy wouldn't stand a chance against a fully belligerent US fleet.

    The Nexus One isn't getting Android 4, because the hardware is too slow for it.
    You know that for a fact or is it just that HTC and Google are no longer playing nice and there's no reason to port ICS to the Nexus One. After all the Nexus S which is getting ICS isn't that beefier in specs.

    Wow, some people just don't get it. What does the Netflix streaming service have? A brand name and some servers. That's it. Now what do the movie studios have? Content and branding. So why oh why would the greedy ass studios want to keep Netflix as the middle man in the streaming service game, why the only barrier to entry is the servers to push the data. Unlike Apple who sold the hard ware you consumed Big Media's wares on, Netflix doesn't make players/set top boxes/portable electronic devices. So again why would a Sony Entertainment division want to keep Netflix around as the toll collector on the great movie streaming highway of the future? Where's the value added step?

    Yes, the Nexus S also lacked the SD card reader, which seems strange that samsung continued w/ that design choice in their second Nexus phone. If I were a betting man I'd guess the next Nexus phone will be from Motorola.

    Point of order, Bernie Ecclestone owns(or is a partial owner w/ some Eurobanks) the FOM not the FIA. FOM is Formula One Managment, and Bernie will just charge the tracks more money to hold his races and recoup his losses there. Probably means the end of Silverstone, and Spa, but more races in unstable totalitarian regimes. The FIA is the sanctioning body for mulitple autoracing events not just F1.
