    Long-term, I think alcohol biofuels will win out. Alcohol is nearly as good a storage medium as gasoline/diesel.
    No, it's not. Diesel fuel =45.4 MJ/kg(38.6 MJ/L), Petrol=47.2MJ/kg(34 MJ/L). E85(ethanol 85% 15%gasoline)=33.1MJ/kg and 26.5 MJ/L. That's nearly a 30% loss in energy density. Not too mention the hygroscopic nature of alcohols.

    All this debate in the USA about health care spending and delivery ignores the biggest factor in predicting lifespan: how much time is spent walking everyday.
    That's why our forebears lived to be so much older than we who were born after the invention of the wheel and the internal combustion engine will live. Or your biggest factor in predicting lifespan neglects the importance of clean water or nutritious food.

    You do realize that gas engines produce benzene and other cyclic compounds in their exhaust gas?
    Produce or merely pass through since benzene and other cyclic compounds(though cyclic doesn't mean bad it's the aromatic compounds that are bad for you) exist in gasoline precombustion.

    so I shut them down with a jammer. If an emergency crops up, I turn the device off.
    So how long before there's a device that locates your jamming signal, and then a crowd of angry people decide to beat you to death(it is Killadelphia after all) b/c you didn't want some person talking to loudly?Will it be worth it then? Or will the jammer/anti jammer arms races spiral out of control?

    This is true of most jobs, and STEM aren't the worst off. Talk to someone trying to break into journalism, or acting, or anything else that you would associate with unpaid internships. Getting your first job in almost any professional field is difficult, unless there is a serious shortage of people in that field.
    I missed where Hollywood execs showed up in front of Congress and said there wasn't enough actors or actresses so we need to import a bunch from other countries, or the world complaining that we let all of our good actors and journalists study here and then return to their home countries. B/c that what those who go into STEM jobs see.

    War was not just impractical, it was unthinkable between western European nations. Combined with a UN that was far more effective than anything which came before it became virtually impossible to have any kind of major war between developed nations.
    lol wut?. If you think without the threat of total annihilation the Soviets wouldn't have conquered all of western Europe you are higher than a kite. As for the UN being effective, yeah they did a real good job stopping genocide in Rwanda, solving the crisis in Sudan, and helping rebuild the govt. in Somalia.

    I see this as similar to the ban on DDT. It pushes you to make a choice that is good for society in general.

    This sentence sounds better in the original German.

    Not surprising they allowed bail for this guy. Ortmann is a totally believable name for a website founder, unlike Dotcom.
    Seeing as how Dotcom had a history of fleeing jurisdictions where he was charged, that probably had more to do with denying him bail than what his name was. Oh and the multiple passports with different aliases didn't help either.

    Can we amend or possibly construct a corollary to Godwin's Law about usage of the word "Taliban" since it's use tends to indicate the person is a Koshevik, but eventually it will find wider usage as a replacement for a demonizing term the person disagrees with.

    "exhaled at high concentrations by each of us" is wrong. The air that enters a person's lungs is 78% nitrogen 21% oxygen, 1% argon and less than 1% CO2. The air that leaves a person's lungs during exhalation contains 14% oxygen and 4.4% carbon dioxide. since when is 4% high concentration ? The article is trying to hard.
    Why the hell is this modded +5? To answer your question 4.4%=44,000 ppm vs 370ppm for atmospheric CO2, since the CO2 leaving our bodies is 100x more concentrated than atmospheric levels it is a high concentration.

I found out that she'd been cheating on me and her other boyfriend with some other men (complicated, I know!), ... Her current husband would LOVE to see those. But I've gotten over the hurt; I came to realize it won't really help anyone.
    How about her current husband who may be exposed to STDs? And this part is strange as well, She never feels the urge though because she ain't touching my computer with a 10-foot pole (proper wife training does that).

    Obama just signed into law the ability of the POTUS to hold US citizens indefinitely without trial by the military (though he promised not to use those powers). Good Luck.
    Korematsu v. United States had already held similiar actions as lawful so no big surprise there. Kelo v New London led to a backlash against the use of Eminent Domain in many state legislatures.
