There is a big misconception here, the 35k/year are not h1bs they are L1 s.
I am an h1b sysadmin. Here is the deal - my vendor gets paid 95 an hour, a manager takes 5 from it, then an agent in between takes 33, my pimp(h1b employer) takes 13(20%), then I get 44 per hour. If there is a slow down in market I will be out of job because we are the most expensive from client's prespective. I am bound in this arrangement with my pimp till I get a GC card which takes about 4 to 8 years. I am working at a place where there are L1's from an indian company who are absolute dumbos, they get training in clicking a gui and are shipped here. There are dumb h1bs too, who manage to secure jobs by faking resume but also keep getting fired in 2 weeks when discoverd. So, US citizens always have an advantage over any h1b guy. Only when it is outsourced to a company bringing in L1's, only then both citizens and h1b s are affected and usually h1b s are first in the firing line. For example, In this client company I replaced an L1 sysadmin guy because he was too dumb. But now I am being forced to train an offshore guy belonging to the indian company in PERL scripting. I just hope that this client will at least honor the remaining 10 months of my 1 year contract. -- Life is just a dream and current dream is "Corporate Slave".

May be we should invent a new communication channel other than the stone age technology of cables for p2p, For example - GPS uses satellite. Say, a open source Wireless p2p device etc.. and then a p2p only international gateway service provider.
Why should anyone keep important data on laptops, oops, just dropped it, hard disk cling cling. Only a moron would keep critical/private data on a laptop, especially in today's networked world. If you are not rich enough then it is better to leave the laptop home. Buy a new one in usa if you are going to stay long term. If short term then you are most likely a business traveller and in that case you will be carrying company laptop. Let them have company data they know how to deal with them, After all we all are the slaves of the corporate, including the government and the customs guy/gal.

I initially bought their international calling service and soon realized that they don't even have a proper website. I canceled the service, but they never sent any confirmation even though i requested for it about 10 times. Later they charged my account after 6 months of cancellation calls. I had to disable my visa card after 20 frustrating calls.

The candidate doesn't mind because that will give him a head start into IT industry where every one wants to hire an experienced developer. The next goal(dream) for every Indian developer is to get h1b visa into usa.
Bosses like you make them report status on a project at unearthly hours like 2:00 am(4:30 pm EST, yeah you just wanted to check the status before going home, don't you). Imagine doing that with Tim here.
If a job vacancy ad mentions the word "fresh" then there will be 6000 applications with at least Master's degree in Computer Application.(10+2+3+3 yrs education).
