Sony dumped a LOT of money into the PS3, and isn't going to make it back anytime soon. This much is obvious. If MS decides to push the release cycle again on the next generation, (and gets away with it) they could put a lot of pressure on Sony.
It wouldn't be the first time MS used this tactic to knock a competitor out...
I'd hardly call a product that can't remain on the shelves a failure! You're right. Companies strive to produce a product that loses money hand over fist.
I'm also tempted to link the relevant VG Cats strip, but it's just too obvious.
But the whole point was to help the civilians, right....Which is why it is called the War in Iraq instead of the War against Iraq. We are fighting a faction within the country, not the country itself, which complicates things greatly. Half the hostiles look like civilians until they start shooting or something explodes.
In a straight upo 'us vs them' fight, the US military wouldn't have the friendly fire issues it does now, and would be a lot more effective.
Lets be honest, you don't buy a Wii for graphics. Don't get me wrong, it looks good, but it doesn't have the horsepower of the 360 or PS3. (There are times when playing Zelda that I pray to the gods of gaming for antialiasing)
If you want to hook non-gamers, the Wii is your machine. Hand them a controller, let them make their own Mii, and fire up tennis on Wii Sports. (Probably the most intuitive of the sports titles, baseball being a close second)
I brought my Wii to thanksgiving to use my mom as a test subject. This is someone who needs to consult her notes to successfully check her email. Within about 10 minutes, she was winning tennis matches, and having a fantastic time.
Yeah. A few weeks. Game has been out for 2 years. You think they would have it figured out by now...
Figured what out? Care to enlighten us as to what Blizzard is doing wrong? Are you one of those brilliant people who screams 'Fix teh servars!!' as if the admins were sitting there playing quake all day?
You expect flawless uptime for $15/month? Good luck with that. The only reason EQ might have been more stable (and I question that assertion) is because it served a fraction of the player base WoW has to sustain.
That is the standard MO of Blizzard. They don't necessarily innovate. Instead, they take existing concepts and refine them to a higher point of quality than anyone else.
There are generally two ways to be successful: Do something noone else has done, or do something better than everyone else. Blizzard seems proficient at option 2.
Circuit City was the same way for me. The Best Buy across the street had probably 100+ people waiting outside when I walked up to CC and was 10th in line.
Ironically, we could see them, and I'm sure they could see us, so I wonder why none of them defected to our side of the street?
Who ever said it did? I made a statement about the advertisement, nothing more.
For the record, I think it's an excellent game too, for reasons totally unrelated to the advertisement.

The berserker wasn't that hard once you figured her out. She charges you, and doesn't exactly turn on a dime once she gets going. Use that to your advantage.
I can't RTFA because of firewalling. From the quote, it sounds like he's talking about the 'Mad World' commercial they've been playing in theatres and on television. I've got to say that is one of the best game ads I've seen in a long time...
The purpose of copyright law is to stimulate creativity and innovation, not establish innate rights.
One has little stimulation to be creative/innovative if it provides no benefit. The ability to profit from your creations is a significant benefit, and consequently a significant motivator. (Probably THE most significant motivator)
The current events in Second Life is a prime example of this. Players are able to freely copy the creations of others without permission. This is causing creators to close up shop because there is no benefit to their efforts.

I think the intention is to say that the game is flawed, but despite those flaws the overall product is excellent.
I'd be inclined to agree. I've been playing the campaign in co-op for a couple days, and it's the most fun I've ever had with a 360.
Doesn't this give N an opportunity to save money on the systems shipped, since they have to pay a lisence for the decoding capabilities? This way, they can sell the DVD software seperately via the marketplace, and only have to cover the lisence for those who actually plan to watch DVD's on the system.
The original Xbox was like this as well, requiring an additional purchase to unlock DVD playback.
Umm, the LUA in WoW is restricted from doing anything without user input. Basically, you can't move, or take any action in game without hitting a corresponding button on an input device. (Keyboard, mouse, gamepad, etc)
The only way to get the game to play on it's own is to use outside software to send the game fake keystrokes. But that's not LUA playing the game for you, thats an external macro program.
So basically, you don't know what you're talking about. The bannings have nothing to do with the ingame scripting.
Fine then, in my opinion, for what little thats worth, making copies for relations that are not in the same household is abuse of fair use.
Personally, I fully support fair use, and oppose the *IAA's trying to infringe upon it. However, the flagrant abuse of fair use is part of the reason they are trying so damn hard to take it away.
Lucky bastard.

If the US stopped being so careful about civilian casualties, then the war in Iraq would be over pretty damn quick.
Company A makes 50 units of their product and sells all of them.
Company B makes 500 units of their competing product and sells all of them.
Which company would you rather be?
Now add in this:
Company A sells 1 accessory per unit of product sold.
Company B sells 3 accessories per unit of product sold.
Again, which company would you want to be?
We could also get into the profit per unit sold, but thats just getting silly. We all know who wins that fight...
I would be very curious to see the breakdown of WoW subscribers by operating system. Does anyone know if Blizzard has released those sort of numbers?
You expect flawless uptime for $15/month? Good luck with that. The only reason EQ might have been more stable (and I question that assertion) is because it served a fraction of the player base WoW has to sustain.
Funny, I havn't been DC'ed from my high pop server in a few weeks. Isn't anecdotal evidence wonderful?

Once that little phrase hit the WoW forums, it was all over.
Hell, there's an owl in the game named "O'reily"

Except for the fact that with the Wii you're actually moving around. Wii Sports is anything but sedentary.
I know this is anecdotal, but the store I got my Wii at recieved 40+ Wii's for launch. They only recieved 15 PS3's, for comparison.
Supposedly there was a Brandsmart down the street that had a whole pallet of Wii's for sale. (No games or accessories however)
I picked one up, along with Zelda and Monkey Ball. After about 15 minutes with Wii Sports I already knew my money was well spent.
A friend of mine picked up Call of Duty, and I'm really curious to see how that plays on Wii. If Zelda is any indication, it'll be excellent.
