Not if the class you play is on the positive side of the balance issues. most people who cry about balance are just upset a different class has the "I win" button. As soon as their class has it, they shut up about balance.
It doesn't take much. You get 100-150 people in one location and you've got a problem. Complicate this by having them gather in one of the areas with the highest population anyway, and it gets ugly.
The most populated servers have upwards of 10k concurrent users. I don't think 100-150 out of 10k is a majority.
I'm trying to figure out why using Havoc is a bad thing. It's arguably the best physics engine out there, so why should Valve re-invent the wheel just so that they made it? Why spend years developing a complex physics system when it's already sitting there ready to be used?
Sounds like a lot of wasted effort to get what would most likely be an inferior product.
It's a great game, but why do I have to prove online that I am not a thief before I can play? I'm glad my car manufacturer doesn't treat me the same way.
Yeah it's not like you need to have some sort of "registration" paper showing that it's your car...
Shouldn't OTA stuff (major networks, HD content, etc) be free? Sure, it's traveling through a different medium (the Internet vs. radio waves), but would FTC guidelines still apply?
You would no longer be a source of income. More downloaders = less normal viewers = less traditional advertising revenue.
One thing I had to do when using BT was get a client that allowed me to limit upload bandwidth usage. I have ADSL, so if my upload gets saturated (which is expected with BT) my download slows to a crawl. Find a good client that lets you do this. (I use Azureus)
It is my personal belief that the internet will be the death of the english language as we know it.
One look at the average AIM user's communication skills, or a quick browse through most internet forums will make this obvious. Capitalization, punctuation, even consistent spelling is going out the window. I think the worst I have seen is that 'lol' and smilies are the only punctuation some people use. (Except for the exclamation point. People use that excessively)
i mean seriously people just write these huge blocks of text stream of conciousness and never try to make sense of their thoughts you know lol its totally impossible for anyone to read but they dont care and call you a grammar nazi if you mention how incomprehensable their attempts at communication are rofl so they just keep doing it and wonder why noone takes them seriously and why the hell does anyone abbreviate 'any' to 'ne' like that one extra letter is so much damn work!!!!1!!1
It frightens me when I get corporate emails that have such words as "ne" and "ur" in them. I'm not kidding. This stuff deeply worries me.
Catass: adj- Basically, anything requiring an ungodly amount of time to level up. There was an old Lum article about a guy whose house smelled like cat ass because he wouldn't get off UO long enough to clean the litter box.
You know, I would LOVE an article that explains the backend of the typical MMO server. Something tells me that most of the playerbase benefit from knowing whats going on in that server room.
Life in the server room according to the ignorant forum whore.
Admin 1: Hey, check this out! I was looking at the forums, and this lvl 60 Paladin, Pwnzj00, says "OMG UR SERVERZ SUXOR!!1!" Thats just not cool!
Admin 2: *Stops playing quake* Really? I had no idea! What are we going to do about it?
Admin 1: I dunno man, let me check the forums again and see if the customers have any insightful feedback. *browse* Here we go! Leegolis says we "should fix the #$&%ing servers!"
Admin 2: Holy shit, I never would have thought of that! Lemme check something... *rummages behind server rack, and flips a switch* Oh, my bad. I forgot to turn the "Suck" switch off when we installed the thing. Should be good now. *Goes back to Quake*
I actually agree with you here. Blizzard needs to force action. However, I'm sure you realize how much bitching forced moves would generate. Blizzard is now in a lose/lose situation. No matter what action they take, someone is going to get pissed.
It is spin. Their first answer is the worst. The game is capable of supporting all the users. That is obviously not true at this point.
Not, their statement is accurate. They have enough servers to accomodate the playerbase, if the playerbase was evenly distributed. However, the population is NOT. There are mebbe 20 servers out of 88 with problems. Not suprisingly, those are the most populated servers.
How would you recommend Blizzard resolve the issue? It's a load balancing problem, but you're saying they're wrong for recommending players balance the load. There are around 20 servers (out of 88) that have these problems. They threw hardware at it, but that doesn't matter of the players don't use it. I imagine there's only so much upgrading and optimization you can do on one server before it stops scaling effectively.
So what do you recommend they do?
There is no easy solution to the problem. Blizzard seems sympathetic of the customers situation, and I think some of the customers need to be more sympathetic of the position Blizzard is in.
If you think about it, what is the fundamental difference between Chess and a turn based strategy game on a computer? The fundamental gameplay is the same, with the complexity and presentation changing.
If she wrote her own music, I'd agree. Last time I looked at one of her albums, Her name was tagged to one track, as a "co-writer". (this was a while ago)
Basically, one of the label's stock writers bangs out a "hit", she records it, the sound techs edit the shit out of it, and it goes out on a CD. She doesn't create music, and doesn't perform music.
Art for art's sake is virtually a thing of the past. Prepare for more of the same on the FM dial! (thank goodness for etunes.com)
"Art for art's sake" was never a common thing. People who do it usually starve to death. In music, a vast majority of composers throughout history wrote stuff that they were commissioned to write. They were under contract to write something to their employers specification.
J.S. Bach didn't write hundreds of cantatas because he thought it was his calling. He wrote them because the church he worked for said "write cantatas"
Not only that, but if they allow infringement by one party, they lose the ability to stop anyone else.
"Why are you suing me? You didn't have a problem when Xfire did it!"

Hasn't been a problem for Post-It notes and Kleenex.
Having the name of your brand become synonymous with the product itself is a GOOD thing for the brand. It's essentially free advertisement.

Test viewings of the terrorists "Full-bright mode" were not positive. Viewers were quoted as saying "My eyes!" repeatedly, and suffered mild sunburn.
We're all too busy playing 'Slashdot'.
*goes back to grinding for karma*

I might be crazy, but I don't think Content Developers = Server Admins.
It's entirely possible for both to be done at the same time without detracting from each other.

Just throwing that one out there...
If I read correctly, she wasn't in trouble for deleting the items and such. She is in trouble for accessing his account illegally. Big difference.

Yeah, If you consider running around on stage lip-synching "performing"
I call em eye candy.

I think many people here would consider installing Windows on an computer to be a destructive act.
