It scares that there maybe those who actually believe these things they say about "copyright infringement". As if (US) American prisons aren't full enough, I predict the government building new ones for to hold the dam pirates. Colonial attacks against real pirates only barely succeeded, and being a sea fearing pirate takes energy. Copyright infringement takes much less energy.
And on a side note, could you guys "pirating" via cameras in theatres just stop it? At least out of respect for art in general. There is currently no good way to duplicate a movie via cam, the quality is terrible. If people can't wait for it to come out dvd let them buy a ticket to the nearest theatre.
You may want to read the comments of at least one of the stories on this posted to the Slashdot. Sun was never the one pushing for closed source anything. This was always a nonsense story in the first place.

In-Depth With Qt 4.4

I am apparently ignorant on wxWidgets, my apologies.
Qt is a cross-platform programming framework which also includes a GUI toolkit. wxWidgets and Gtk and basically (if not only) GUI toolkits. Gtk (to my knowledge) doesn't do database driver abstraction, network abstraction, sound abstraction, etc, etc.
While I dislike simplistic dismal of conspiracy theories simply because they are conspiracy theories, in this case, regular capitalistic greed easily explains the observations.
I am interested in getting my bro (15 yrs) an EEE PC to give him some exposure to coding (Python) see if he likes it or not. However, there will be little to no wifi for him to he hoping on... so I am wondering useful the EEE PC will be for this, especially coupled with the small screen and keyboard size. The prize point does make it my top pick right now however. Any one have any experience with this?
It's not a lie that most hardware works in Linux. I would guess (without evidence) that more currently existing hardware works on Linux than Windows. And the fact that people don't care about the why doesn't make the why irrelevant or untrue.
I would think that a company intentionally spreading misleading information under the guise of facts would be illegal, if only so as to protect consumers. How is this not so?

Not that this has ever happened with closed-source
While I am not a big fan of senseless war, their logic on this move seems sound.
You talk as if someone cares. No one (with power of this) cares. The Law is used to make people homeless every day.
Think Source Force, Office Open XML
While it is really sad that this made it to the front page. The vid itself was funny.
Seems like that is the most effective thing right now.
I thought the complaint was that KDE looked like Windows?
(Except for work where they provide Office) I am still happily going to return to sender any OOXM docs.

They are plugged into the grid.
Of course the power isn't free. It is being generated by wind turbines not handed down by God directly to peoples houses.

People who haven't given Eclipse much of a chance often think Eclipse is a piece of crap.
Yes I know it descended from it, but it is not actively derived from it as implied.

Well, he also things Fedora is based on RedHat Linux.

even claim to be a desktop distro? I use Fedora on my desktop, but I don't think they claim it to be a desktop distro.

More Insightful than Funny if you ask me.
I fully advocate a good old fashion beating for this Jack Thompson character. When you bring a guy's mother into you're making it personal.
I love this reason, "because the cops may not like it"
