Well, from what I have heard (and I would like to emphasize this is just what I heard) quite a large number of recruits only join for lack of any other viable options in life. Also, it is a fast track road to citizenship. It isn't what I would generally consider "willingly".
If an operating system doesn't work well in a machine with 2GB of RAM it would need to be shot. Even I only tend to 1GB or RAM. I had CentOS5 running on a machine with 256MB of RAM all because I forgot to put in the memory I bought for it.
Why do people speak as if the founding fathers were infallible? Not that I don't agree with your points. I would add medical patents to that list though, at least for non Viagra type medicines.
Is, I worry, an attempt to divide OSS from it's commercial funding. The RedHat's and Sun's, etc that put dollars into OSS which the users in turn benefit from.
Well like many forms of "IP", there is nothing stopping the whole of the EU from just pirating any version of Windows they like. Or is Microsoft going to send in the US military?
Maybe it's a good time that they terminate their dependence on a singe company then -- seems like a good idea regardless of who that single company is.
please, leave such rubbish statements for CNET. a compromised webpage is not the same as a compromised website and certainly is not the same as a compromised webserver. And with Apache being the most popular web server, it really doesn't automatically mean Linux either.
The point you are all missing here is that no one is going to pay support for a game like tetris
The point you are missing is that really isn't mine, or FOSS's problem. Regardless of how much anyone bitches, I'm going to write free software, at least until they start enacting capital punishment for writing free software.
well you see, the way the whole thing was designed was that when a client sends out a DNS query, and no DNS server can resolve it, the query is supposed to fail. Simply breaking this design, especially for no good reason is not a good thing.
I will truthfully say that the sexual solicitation of children is no big deal. Violent kidnapping is far bigger deal to me as the child has less of a chance to escape that. With solicitation, the child still has to choose to for that piece of candy or whatever.

Or Qt.... whatever is easier.

Fonts in Firefox look much clearer to me than in IE7, what exactly is the purpose of SmoothText?
Firefox on Linux is bad, period. I don't know why exactly.
I think we would first have to argue if Politics (at least this specific form of politics) can really be considered serious in the first place.

And I think this is fair enough to be applied to any company, not just Microsoft.

Discovery Channel, History Chanel and National Channel all show the same scenario of the sun expanding to and past earth.
cool, we have a deal then. hope slashdot doesn't lose the db
Miro is around, if it is not good enough, hire someone to fix it -- or can they not afford someone to fix it?

I would certainly hope not.
I noticed that they were doing it. Was going to mention it to my local LUG, but /. beat me to it -- procrastination, what can I say.

Well I can truly say that I feel somewhat better today, unless of course you go to the same school that I do, in which case it proves nothing.
Patents assisting innovation, just like they were intended for.
God bless you. I thought I was the only one that hated it.
I'm pretty sure Fedora was running on it even before Ubuntu.
Not to be funny, but how many hamburgers is that?
