  1. I often wonder . . . on Tech Sector Expansion Blunting U.S. Job Outsourcing · · Score: 1

why they even give work visas still. It seems like the majority of "red blooded American's" don't even like foreigners.

  2. Not yet worried on Outcry Over Google's Purchase of Doubleclick · · Score: 1

I'm still more worried about the RIAA than Google. The former seems to have a hand in, or is associated with gun wielding police officers. Just pass some legislation to ensure that Google cannot do this, and that one never _must_ use Google (assuming there are alternatives) and I am fine with this. AdBlock will take care of obtrusive ads.

Thank you Novel for pioneering the future where MS doesn't even have to use or code for Linux to profit off of it. Thank you for the future where we essentially need MS's permission to run software.

When your stuff works too well, you have to "fix" it. When it doesn't work well enough, you have to fix it. And in the theoretical scenario where you get it to work just right, you'll be hated, and likely out of a job.

Of course I understand, maybe you don't ... in order for a typical website to work, one looksup its domain name to get the ip address, and the browser sends the http request to port 80, no?

Just don't allow it. There's no possible positive in even allowing cyberquating. If someone wants to register a website that looks like a cybersquat, attach a clause saying they have x amount of days to put up an actual website, assuming there is a port 80 attached to that domain. Or can the registrars not stay away from the easy money themselves?
