Yeah it must really get to you to realize that you really aren't intelligent enough to view any other model of the universe than the one your body tricks you into believing. Do you understand your eyes don't show you the true world, they show you frequencies of photons being bounced all around. Your ears don't show you sounds, sound doesn't exist. No, you misunderstand. Nowhere have I said we should be teaching kids either evolution or ID. The problem is when one or the other is taught incorrectly. People need to realize that if GOD was so intelligent then he wouldn't have to design an organism and just place it on Earth. GOD is intelligent enough to design the universe in a way where organisms could sprout out of primordial soup and chaos. Both theories do not cancel each other out if taught correctly.
ID has absolutely NO basis in science. To teach children fairy tales as fact is entirely inappropriate. One day in the very near future we will be able to simulate every particle on earth's exact physics in a computer system. This simulation system is not far off and it will be able to show people the exact physical and chemical processes that contribute to endosymbiosis and eventually to the birth of life. I don't want to put down anyones faith, but I have no "FAITH" in evolution, I only have scientific evidence. Science is my religion, not fairy tales.

This is hilarious to me because I know David Edmunson's son Josh. He resigned because he got caught cheating on his wife with an employee and his wife is pissed about it. It is easier for a programmer to imagine an abstract system with defined rules rather than a chaotic intuitive system like human emotions. RPG's are heavily rooted in numbers which are about the most abstract concept that human beings deal with every day. The only reason we use base 10 is because we have 10 fingers. Pi, Phi, e, and all the other mathematical constants are simply relations between these abstract concepts. Let's not forget that every element of nature is rooted in fractal systematic recursion. Objects are made up of smaller elements whose rules can be more easily defined than the whole. That's why when you program you take a bottom up approach; perfect the quark and then use the quarks to build atoms. Legos, Erector, Kinex, Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys, all these building toys utilize rule based systems to form larger more complex objects. That's why all us programmers grew up on Legos. We like rule-based systems even if they are abstract. That's why programmers play RPG's, love Legos, and don't have girlfriends.

How about they write a whole fake scientific explanation for how exactly the radioactive spider in Spiderman altered Peter Parker's DNA, including references to the actual genes that were changed or spliced. I'd say most movie special effects are done in Maya right now. The MEL scripting makes it very easy to program custom behavior and huge crowd scenes like those in The Lord of the Rings.
Some studios use Softimage|XSI, some, like Pixar, use custom software developed in house to work on their computer systems. But I'm just talking about 3D animation packages, half of it is the compositing software.
As far as OS goes it varies. You'll probably see a lot of Irix and UNIX boxes. Lots of clusters. Render Farms.
Yeah, Dish Network and DirecTV have both offered free DVRs to new customers and a lot of cable companies do it too. This makes it pretty difficult for a company like TiVo to offer a program listing service for $12.95 a month when the Dish and DirecTV DVRs don't require any additional subscription fee. This brings up the argument that TiVo has many patented features that the other DVRs do not, but when you ask the average person what they need out of their DVR they will tell you "I need to record TV and that's it". Maybe if TiVo did a better job at making their product out to be unique they would hold a greater market share. They already have the unique name that is instantly recognizable. I mean 'TiVo' is a damn verb now. I never hear anyone say "Hey man, did you DVR the new episode?". Its usually "Hey man, did you TiVo the new episode?". Just my two cents.

The more resources you put in, the less spores you can make, but the more of a chance you have of the offspring surviving. Some of the organisms begin producing massive amounts of spores with very little 'food' for the offspring. These massive amounts of small spores have a better probability of finding other spores because there are so many of them. The problem is that these tiny spores can only produce a viable offspring if they come into contact with another spore that has a little extra 'food' for the baby. This opens up a huge market for the two extremes of the spore production. The organisms that produce the very small spores are sacrificing quality in favor of quantity. The organisms that produce the very big spores are sacrificing quantity in favor of quality. The organisms that were producing average sized spores no longer have an evolutionarily stable strategy. Eventually we reach a point where the big spore and small spore organisms are so specialized and so different that they are no longer quite the same and that is where the division occurs and we now have two separate sexes. The small spore producing organisms become males, and the small spores in huge quantities become sperm. The big spore producing organisms become females, and the large spores in small quantities become eggs. The females have already invested so much into their eggs that they eventually take over the entire process of growing the offspring inside of them as in mammals.

I agree with this statement. As a programmer I think the key to making a great game is thinking about game play first and foremost. It seems like lately video games have been shifting towards high budgets which does little for the game but add 'filler'. There was a time when game play was all that mattered because you could barely make out the character on the screen. Logically it seems to incorporate elements of a movie into a game you must at least sacrifice a little of the game play. Adding buggy mini-games that touch points of a movie's plot to a game is an example of this. Technology now allows us to immerse the player in any world we can imagine. I just think that when trying to make a licensed game from a movie the developers should remember why people play games in the first place: To Have Fun.
