Depending on what the problem is, it can sometimes lead to a buffer overflow. If it hits the end of the buffer and causes a SIGSEGV, then what's to stop it changing a return address? It's possible...
No-one likes what they're not used to...I'm a Gentoo user, and the other day when my friend put Ubuntu on his computer, I found it to be a bitch to use....perhaps apt isn't for me?;)
I knew someone who did something similar, although with an unprecedented level of stupidity. He read the admin's password over his shoulder, and created an admin account to use.
He made one slight mistake though....his username was carrij. The new account was carrij2;)
If you wanted to do it like that then you would need the *player* to search through the whole filesystem and make an index, assuming you wanted any reasonable performance.
I'll admit that I had problems with overshooting the item I was aiming for at first, but after a couple of days you get used to the clickwheel and that becomes not a problem. At least I did.
I also haven't had any problems getting a secure grip on the iPod, perhaps you're just used to holding it another way?
I'll admit that this is my first MP3 player (I'm only 15, so I haven't been buying lots of this kind of stuff), but I don't have the problems that you describe.
I just bought it because I was 100% sure that I could use it under Linux AND it was compatible with iTunes. The clickwheel and the appearance was a bonus.
Adblock could help with some of these things, and perhaps you could search for/write a Firefox extension which does something similar? I mean it's not like she'd know how to disable it....right?
By removing its network stack and all external storage capabilities?
Today it's held hostage to your PC or iPod! Tommorrow, it's held hostage to your USB drive!
Bear in mind that because distribution is less expensive, it could be cheaper to distribute movies, and ideally it would be cheaper to buy.
In the real world however, the MPAA will probably charge more for this "privilege" of hosting their data for them.
So not crippling the device for people with large music collections and who want to store files mean that they are supporting piracy?
Isn't this one of those problems where once you've gotten off the ground, the rest of the way is easy?
Didn't Passport get cancelled? Are they building new systems based on a deprecated
system?
They're about a fifth of the way there...what's the problem exactly?
As far as opera goes, I'm sure the 4 Opera users out there are annoyed by the lack of support.
Umm what? It supports Opera...

SATA is just different controller hardware. The drives are the same.

It's been 4 years since the last release though, did any of the other codenames have as long to become entrenched?
Because opening the window when it's -10 outside and blowing snow in at high speed is always a good idea.
You might want to get your blood pressure checked....
With almost every album I've bought, my favourite songs haven't been those which I bought it for. You're missing out if you only buy single songs.

Clickwheel not an effective interface? What do you have that is better?
If it's that consistent then you realise that the audio problem is most likely in your decoder?
Asia to Europe as well...I went from Australia to Singapore to Italy. It's not fun.
No, scarily enough, I've seen a dupe while the original was still on the homepage. And I'm only 15, I haven't been around all that long.
Umm isn't a million Yen only about AU$10k?
That isn't all that much.
