    Think something like:

    "Working late for the next couple of weeks, X needs to be finished. You're going to the movies on saturday, why don't you get it then? Oh yeah...they aren't allowed to sell to you. Meh, you can wait 2 weeks/a month.".

    It's a nice ideal to say "Well parents should always know what their kids are doing" but that's just not how it works


    It's a nice ideal to say "By censoring out any information which I think will make my children not think things that I want them to, I will make them better people". But that isn't how things work in real life, IMO.

    You can download it OpenOffice format if you want, but it's a lot bigger than the PDF, and most of the world doesn't have a viewer for it.

    What would be interesting is a customised knoppix, made for beginners who are trying to learn to use Linux.

    I'm thinking of things like tutorials, instructions, etc, all available on startup, so that people who don't know what to do have an easy way to learn.

    I guess it goes on my to-do list...along with a graphical front-end to portage, untainting my kernel, and recharging my iPod ;)

    No, there was another one, the Nachi virus.

    IIRC, this caused as much damage as a normal worm. It crashed systems, destroyed windows installations, etc. etc.

    To be more clear, most of the women I know seem to be a lot smarter than the men.

    Why is it that most spam is aimed at men when it is obvious that women use the net and e-mail as well?
    From my experience, women seem to be smart enough not to buy things from spam.
    One thing I want to know... do men actually think that increasing your penis size will make women ecstatic?

    Modern planes are mostly controlled by a computer nowdays...there would be a backup system (I hope, anyway), but most of the work is done by a computer.

    I agree, I haven't bought any Intel procs since '97.

    However, I did have a problem with overheating on my current box, but it wasn't a processor problem, it was actually a fan failure.

    However, I *DO* like to use my many computers to keep my bedroom warm, so there is a fair amount of heat output ;)

    To make the data unreadable, you must overwrite it approximately 20 times. From what I've heard, 10 times is enough, but 20 times if you want to be sure.

    No, no, you have it wrong. You do NOT need a hotmail account to use Passport, any email address will do. I use my Gmail account with it, and there are no problems at all.

    If you want to remove the below-port-1024 restriction, it's a two-line deletion in the kernel.
